Calling In A Nursing Consultant To Calm The Waves Of Change, Anne M. Barker
Calling In A Nursing Consultant To Calm The Waves Of Change, Anne M. Barker
Nursing Faculty Publications
When collaborating as change agents directors of nursing and nursing consultants must pinpoint both the reasons for resistance to change and how to deal with them. in the case of a new director, this included developing a trusting, collaborative relationship with her staff. Environments For Enhancing Nursing Research, Elizabeth L. Kent, Judith A. Floyd
Nursing Faculty Research Publications
The following was excerpted by Dr. Floyd from a presentation made by Dr. Kent at the 1983 MNA convention. The program theme of that convention, "Setting the Scene for Nursing," focused on optimizing the environments in which nursing is practiced. Re-exposure to Dr. Kent's ideas seems timely.

In 1982, the Michigan Nurses' Association adopted a resolution which called for action in addressing the problem of impaired nursing practice in Michigan. At the 1984 MNA Convention, the House of Delegates reaffirmed MNA's support of a comprehensive approach to the problem of impaired practice including (a) education of Michigan nurses about the problem, (b) research to establish a database on the size and nature of the problem, and (c) strategies for …

Predictors Of Health In Middle Adulthood, Sandra Thomas
Predictors Of Health In Middle Adulthood, Sandra Thomas
Faculty Publications and Other Works -- Nursing
There is increasing acceptance of the premise that growth and development continue throughout adult life and, as life expectancy has lengthened, there is a much expanded mid-life period. Yet, middle adulthood has been neglected as an area of theoretical and empirical examination. The results indicated that internal locus of control was positively related to total self-management, health self-management, and health habits, while chance locus …
