Background: A cohort of faculty from Governors State University were chosen to receive technology training and develop web based education projects incorporating digitized primary sources from the Library of Congress' American Memory Collection in May 2006. Using a constructivist framework, three web-enhanced projects, which are works in progress, were developed to illumine and enliven nursing's history for today's learner. These projects utilize digitized primary sources, which are defined as documents or other sources of information created at or near the time being studied. Forensic Nursing is a fairly new exciting nursing specialty. Television shows such as CSI portray forensic nurses and investigators in a less than realistic manner. Forensic nursing and investigation are exciting fields to specialize in, but the role of the forensic nurse and investigator are often misunderstood. Mothers’ Support Options During Childbirth: A Survey Of Hospital Obstetrical Units In The Southeastern Region Of The United States, Hila J. Spear

This study examined hospital policies and procedures related to maternal support during childbirth and the promotion of breastfeeding among mothers who give birth by cesarean. Overall, the findings revealed hospital-based practices and protocols that facilitated positive chibirth experiences and that were supportive of breastfeeding for mothers regardless of mode of delivery.

Dr. Spear and colleagues, Dr. Kim Carter and Katrina Watson emphasized the importance of using various research strategies to gain insight and knowledge about the multidimensional topic of teenage pregnancy and related demographic, psychosocial, cultural, and behavioral issues. A meta-analysis of published studies, a qualitative inquiry, and a descriptive survey study were presented. The qualitative and descriptive survey studies may be read in their entirety.
