Background: To assess when residents become proficient in performing flexible nasolaryngoscopy (FNL) in the pediatric population.

Objective: To objectively evaluate the quality of FNL by year of residency training.

Methods: Ninety-five pediatric FNL’s were performed by otolaryngology residents and pediatric otolaryngology fellows (postgraduate year [PGY] 1 – 6). Three pediatric otolaryngologists rated the FNL videos (anonymized and without sound) using the Modified Cormack-Lehane scoring system (MCLS). Data analysis was performed using two-way ANOVA and Tukey-Kramer adjustment.

Length of stay (LOS) is an indirect measure of hospital cost and efficiency of a clinical service and it is important to determine the factors affecting LOS in hospitalized children undergoing inpatient rehabilitation. This study analyzed referral patterns from primary care and sports medicine clinicians for pediatric patients with sports-related concussion in one health care system.

Introduction: Trainee burnout is common and evidence supporting the effectiveness of well-being interventions for this population is limited. We studied the effect of a longitudinal coaching program grounded in positive psychology on measures of pediatric trainee well-being.

Methods: Pediatric interns and fellows (n = 67) were enrolled in a positive psychology coaching program in 2017-2019. Pediatric faculty (n = 23) underwent training and were paired with trainees outside their field of interest. Trainees were surveyed at the beginning and end of the program to assess burnout and well-being, and key skills necessary to achieve well-being.
