Role Of Abdominal Computerized Tomography In Early Detection Of Peritoneal Malignancy, Mohammad Abd El-Aliem Nafady, Haitham A Azeem, Rehab Nashaat Ahmad

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background: Patients having suspected or a confirmed diagnosis of peritoneal malignancy benefit greatly from imaging studies. Tumor staging is impacted by the existence of peritoneal metastases (PM), which in turn affects treatment options and prognosis. Extended life and even cure have been achieved in some cases with PM by combining cytoreductive surgery (CRS) with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). Objectives: To assess the diagnostic utility and efficacy of high resolution computer tomography (CT scan) in the early diagnosis of peritoneal tumor seeding. Patients and methods: This prospective research was performed in Radio-Diagnosis Department, Faculty of Medicine, Al-Azhar Assuit University. It conducted …

Comparative Study Between Role Of Multi Slice Computed Tomography Angiography And Doppler Ultrasonography In Evaluation Of Patients With Lower Limb Arterial Diseases, Ayman Gamal Mahmoud Farag El-Soudani, Ahmed Abd El-Fattah Mahmoud Abu-Rashed, Mohamed Talaat Mohamed

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Introduction: Peripheral vascular disease is a leading global source of morbidity. According to epidemiological research, up to 5% of males and 2.5% of women who are 60 years or older may experience intermittent claudication. The purpose of the effort is to assess color-coded Doppler and multi-detector row CT angiography as less intrusive methods for evaluating patients with lower limb artery disease. The outcomes will be contrasted with digital subtraction angiography, the industry-recognized gold standard method Patients & approaches: 50 individuals with probable lower extremity artery disease participated in this investigation. It will be done in the radiology division of Cairo's …

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background: Recently, lung ultrasound has been touted as a modality that can diagnose pneumonia in a variety of settings while overcoming many of the shortcomings of other tools. Aim: The aim of the study to compare between diagnostic value of lung ultrasound and CT- chest in evaluating pneumonia and pleural effusion in ICU patients. The primary study outcomes were the sensitivity and specificity of lung ultrasound and CT-chest in pneumonia and pleural effusion. The Secondary study outcomes were the satisfaction of the patient. Patients and Methods: This was observational study included 40 patients admitted to ICU Al-Azhar university hospitals. Results: …

Role Of Ultrasonography For Diagnosis Of Pediatric Acute Abdominal Pain, Mahmoud Kadry Elgendy, Mohammed Abo Elnaga Mohammed, Mohammed A. Abd Elghaffar

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background: Ultrasound is very useful in assessment of acute abdomen in pediatric age groups, such as intussusceptions, acute appendicitis, acute cholecystitis ,renal stones and mesenteric lymphadenitis. As equipment and techniques improve, its role in the examination of infants and children continues to increase. Aim of Work: to evaluate role of ultrasonography for diagnosis of pediatric acute abdominal pain. Patients and Methods: Our study was conducted in Al-Azhar University from April 2021 to April 2022 and enrolled 30 cases of pediatric age group presented with acute abdomen 16 female & 14 male. In our study was examined by the same radiologist …

Comparison Between Contrast Enhanced Mammography And Tomoynthesis In Assessment Of Breast Lesions, Abd Ellah Nazeer Yassin, Wafik Ebrahim Aly, Marwa Mostafa Sonbol, Shaymaa Abbod Najm Al Wadees

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background: Mammography is criticized for having poor specificity and sensitivity in breast parenchyma that is dense. Additionally, breast cancer risk is higher in women who have dense breast tissue. Tomosynthesis and contrast-enhanced mammography are relatively new imaging methods that have been linked to breast cancer identification and diagnosis. Objective: to evaluate breast lesions using both breast contrast-enhanced mammography and tomosynthesis. Patient and method: 50 patients participated in this prospective trial, and each had single view tomosynthesis and contrast-enhanced mammography. The research was carried out between March 2021 and February 2022 at Mediant AL Tab Hospital & Behia Center's radiological department, …

Role Of Ct In Assessment Of Spinal Injuries In Trauma Patients, Ahmed F. Rady, Salah M. Maklad, Hazem A. Yousef

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background: Trauma of the spine weighs heavily on the budget of social and economic development of our society. Multi-detector Computed Tomography (MDCT)scan clearance of the spine does not appear to result in greater radiation exposure. Accurate evaluation of the thoracolumbar spine is possible with targeted image reconstruction with sensitivity and specificity of spinal fracture detection of 98% and 97%.

Purpose: A) To evaluate the diagnostic validity of MDCT in assessment of spinal injuries in trauma patients. B) Also, to determining type and degree of spinal fractures.

Material and methods: A prospective study included 70 patients with traumatic spinal injuries examined …
