Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background: Coronary artery stenting is the most important minimally invasive treatment for symptomatic coronary artery disease. But because in-stent restenosis occurs at a somewhat high rate, invasive angiography is now commonly utilised to assess stent patency. Objective: The objective of the study is to examine how multidetector CT scans can assist physicians in making decisions regarding the placement of coronary artery stents in patients who have chronic chest pain or who have myocardial ischemia. Method: A total of 40 individuals had multislice CT angiography of the coronary arteries between February 2022 and August 2022 as part of this study. Such patients …

Correlation Of Tei Index Assessed By Different Echocardiographic Methods In Patient With Acute Myocardial Infarction Receiving Different Reperfusion Treatment In Comparison With Ef And Diastolic Function, Mahmoud Elsayed Nofal, Abdelhamid Esmail Abdelhamid, Mohamed Hesham Hassan Ezzat

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background: Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a common cardiac condition with high morbidity and mortality worldwide. A common complication of AMI is heart failure (HF). HF is the most significant predictor of mortality among AMI patients. So, a significant echocardiographic measurement for post-AMI patient is to assess the left ventricular systolic function via left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). As such, Tei index, which simultaneously measures relaxation and contraction velocities, may be of a prognostic importance in those presenting with AMI that may go unmissed with the isolated evaluation of LVEF. Objectives: this work was done to correlate MPI evaluated by …

Incidence And Severity Of Pulmonary Hypertension Among Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease, Mamdouh Maher

Journal of Medicine in Scientific Research

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major health problem and is closely linked with cardiovascular disease. Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is considered a common comorbidity in CKD patients. In all, 100 patients were included in our study. Transthoracic echo Doppler study was performed to measure pulmonary artery systolic pressure based on tricuspid jet. The prevalence of PH in CKD patients in our study was 60%; prevalence and severity had significant association.

The hemodialyzed group showed a higher prevalence of PH with a more severe PH.

Our study had provided evidence that PH is a common comorbidity in CKD patients and is …

Cha2ds2-Vasc-Hs Score As A Predictor Of No-Reflow In Patients With St-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction Who Underwent Primary Percutaneous Intervention, Sameh Refaat Hassan Allam, Alhussein Mostafa Zahran, Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Elagami

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background: Current guidelines for acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients declared primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) as the mainstay reperfusion strategy. However, the no-reflow phenomenon(NRP) is a major drawback. The longer ischemia lasts, the more likely NRP is to occur causing more myocardial cells damage.

Aim of the Work: to correlate between the CHA2DS2VAScHS score and NPR in patient presented with STEMI and treated with PPCI.

Methods: Case-control study that included one hundred patients presented with STEMI and treated with PPCI. Patients were further divided into group(A) in which patients developed no-reflow (NR) after PPCI and group(B) in which …

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background: Due to the existence of its receptor in cardiomyocytes, vitamin D deficiency influences alterations in these cells. People who have low levels of 25OHD in their blood are more likely to get an acute myocardial infarction (MI).

Aim of the work: to assess the level of vitamin D (concentrations of 25-OHD in serum) in people having acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and its relationship to the extent of the condition.

Methods: This Cross-sectional work was performed on 50 individuals. Age ranged from 32 to 82 diagnosed with ACS. All patients were subjected to left ventricular function (estimated ejection fraction (EF) …

The Relation Between Heart Rate Response During Exercise And Angiographic Severity In Patients With Chronic Coronary Syndrome, Emmanuel Louka Jan 2023

The Relation Between Heart Rate Response During Exercise And Angiographic Severity In Patients With Chronic Coronary Syndrome, Emmanuel Louka

Journal of Medicine in Scientific Research

Introduction Ellestad and colleagues, in 1975, reached to the conclusion that impaired heart rate response to exercise carries a similar risk for future coronary events such as ischemic ‘ST’ segment changes. Mc Neer and colleagues went beyond these observations to include a survival benefit in patients who achieve a higher peak heart rate (PHR), a more advanced level of exercise, and have a normal exercise electrocardiogram. Aim The aim of this work is to clarify the relation between the chronotropic response to exercise and the severity of coronary artery disease in patients with chronic coronary syndrome. Patients and methods The …
