Pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) is the separate, topic-specific, specialized knowledge of educators that integrates subject matter expertise with effective teaching strategies in response to an identified learner misconception or to optimize teaching. Although PCK has been used for decades as a framework for understanding the often-tacit ability of an educator to educate well, little has been done to bring this framework into medical and health professions education. We provide examples of PCK in various contexts, including large -group lectures, problem-based learning sessions, and bedside teaching. Introduction: With rapidly evolving clinical practice and medical knowledge, future doctors must be independent lifelong learners. Self-regulated learning (SRL) represents a formalized approach to lifelong learning, involving cycles of planning, learning, assessment, and adjustment. Medical schools can create clinical environments where learners are instructed in SRL and encouraged to routinely practice using it. Clinical educators can provide guidance in SRL by co-regulating learning with students. The purpose of this study is to explore how clinical teachers co-regulate the learning process with students during clinical clerkships.

Students come to medical school with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Accordingly, many schools have developed pre-matriculation programs to support students' transition into medical education, especially for those whose educational path may not have offered the same breath of opportunities as their incoming counterparts. Baylor College of Medicine established a pre-matriculation program for students from early assurance programs and non-traditional pathways to address gaps in student support and normalize help-seeking behavior. This program took place over 2 weeks and was developed with leadership and student partners. Participants included 21 students who completed baseline and post-program surveys. Infant loss in the United States occurs 5.6 per 1,000 live births. This paper examines risk factors that contribute to neonatal death. Prematurity is a risk factor for NICU admission. A portion of premature babies receiving care in the NICU will die. The stressful nature of the NICU has been studied widely in journals. The impact of NICU death on hospital staff and bereaved parents has been studied less. Mortality studies suggest that bereaved mothers are at a high risk of dying within the first 5 years after their child has died. Despite the frequency of maternal death post-child loss, …

RECENT FINDINGS: AI has improved accessibility to learning material in a manner that engages the wider population. We, as the current and immediate-past NAPCRG Trainee Committee, share our perspectives as an international and diverse group of primary care research trainees. In this essay, we discuss the challenges and opportunities for achieving a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive primary care workforce by reflecting on 2 main challenges: (1) insufficient support for underrepresented identities in medicine, and (2) inadequate integration within existing primary care teams. Within each of these challenges, we pose potential opportunities for improvement using a trainee lens.

Objective: This scholarly project aimed to enhance psychiatric providers' competency, confidence, and knowledge in the PHASER pharmacogenomic (PGx) testing program at the VA San Diego Healthcare System.

Background: PGx testing enhances psychiatric care by enabling precise medication management tailored to a patient’s genetic profile, improving treatment effectiveness and reducing adverse drug reactions. Despite demonstrated clinical utility, adoption of PGx remains limited due to provider knowledge gaps. This project addresses these gaps through targeted education.

Introduction: There has been a growing interest in understanding the role of gratitude in promoting well-being. Gratitude, defined as a feeling of thankfulness and appreciation in response to receiving a benefit from someone else, has been shown to improve mood, increase social support, and decrease symptoms of depression and anxiety. This research paper explores an innovative intervention using gratitude cards for faculty members and measures the emotional impact of this intervention.

Purpose: This article explores the utilization of occupational therapy (OT) in interprofessional health care teams in adult populations. Primary care settings are typically the first point of contact for individuals seeking health care services; therefore, primary care practitioners (PCPs) are in a unique position to initiate collaboration with specialty clinicians to optimize the use of health care resources.

Method: Peer- reviewed literature from primary care and OT research was reviewed and summarized. The search focused on barriers and potential opportunities for collaboration between primary care and occupational therapy in adult populations.

The Michigan Center for IPE (C-IPE) Student Advisory Committee (SAC) is a student-run committee that serves as a collaborative student community among health professional schools at our institution. Introduction: The purpose of this study was to determine whether exposure to musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound (US) enhanced medical students’ knowledge and self-efficacy in understanding basic US principles, MSK anatomy and physical examination, and use of US to evaluate MSK structures. Materials and Methods: Forty-three second-year medical students were divided into control (n = 22) and experimental (n = 21) groups. All participants completed a pre-session self-efficacy questionnaire and were encouraged to view a recorded 20-min MSK US lecture.
