Cultural Adaptability Of Students Attending Culturally Diverse And Non-Culturally Diverse Dental Hygiene Programs, Katrina White Magee

Dental Hygiene Theses & Dissertations

The purpose of this descriptive investigation was to determine the cultural adaptability of students attending culturally diverse and nonculturally diverse dental hygiene programs throughout the U.S. The dental hygiene schools were identified according to their ethnic diversity as reported by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation in the 1996-1997 Survey of Dental Hygiene Education Programs. Once the programs were identified, a random sample was taken from the diverse and non-diverse dental hygiene programs. A 50-item inventory, the Cross-Cultural Adaptability Inventory (CCAI), was mailed to the participating dental hygiene programs. Historical Postcards (1908-2007)

Postcard shows the front of the University of Health Sciences Administration Building. From 1917 to 1970 the building at 1750 Independence Avenue was occupied by Children’s Mercy Hospital. In 1971 it was purchased by the Alumni Association of the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine and gifted to the college. In 1979, after extensive renovations it became the school’s administration building. The school’s name was changed in 1980 to the University of Health Sciences and today is known as Kansas City University.

The back of the postcard advertises the American Osteopathic Association's 1999 national convention and lists alumni events.

The Reflective Process In Nursing Clinicals Using Journaling And Dialogue, Rita Van Horn

Dissertations

Method. Two case studies describe the experiences of (1) 17 students who worked individually in the hospital clinical setting and who answered specific questions about problem solving in a written journal and (2) 20 students who were paired in the clinical setting and who answered the same questions together in a journal shared by the pair. In both case studies the experience was 9 weeks. The written journal questions were designed around a problem-solving process and thoughts and feelings about the clinical experience. A rubric adapted from Boud, Koegh, and Walker’s (1985) reflective model was used to analyze the journal …

African Americans' knowledge about primary preventive health and their attitudes toward primary preventive health influence their health behavior. Primary preventive health behavior is also affected by the individuals' definition of health and the significance they ascribe to their health status. Attitudes toward primary preventive health determine whether health assessment is important in preventing disease. African Americans have a myriad of views about health and general well being. A Needs Assessment For A Distance Education Baccalaureate Degree Completion Program For Associate Degree Level Dental Hygienist, Joan Gugino Ellison

Dental Hygiene Theses & Dissertations

The purpose of this descriptive research was to determine the need for a distance education program for geographically dispersed dental hygienists to complete a baccalaureate degree program in dental hygiene. The sample consisted of randomly selected licensed dental hygienists in the Commonwealth of Virginia. A self-designed instrument, titled The Distance Education for a Dental Hygiene Degree Completion Program Questionnaire, was mailed to the study participants after establishing validity and reliability. The questionnaire asked participants to provide information concerning personal demographics, educational background, and interest in completing a dental hygiene baccalaureate degree via distance education.
