Includes affidavits of physicians, public health officials and locals familiar with the pest house. The restraining order was subsequently lifted by a Louisville judge. Wittman’s service as a U.S. Army nurse with the 32nd Station Hospital during World War II. Includes a letter to her parents in Canal Fulton, Ohio, from Camp Breckinridge, Kentucky describing a review of the 98th Infantry Division; photographs of her and fellow nurses; a nurses roster; meal tickets; and a whimsical “Dishonorable Discharge” from the Army. Also includes a medical history of the 32nd Station Hospital Unit written by Chief Nurse Helen W. Brammer.

Letter to a Mr. Parker from Swan Burrus, State Line, Kentucky, referring to his children’s interest in an estate. He reminds Parker of his delivery of a bond as guardian for the three youngest children, and asks for further instructions. The letter is written on letterhead from the Office of Burrus Brothers, Drugs and General Merchandise, and bears an illustrated advertisement for Dr. Brown’s Family Remedies promising relief from a variety of complaints.

Records regarding the nomination of Lennie Lancaster for the Kentucky Medical Association and Kentucky Academy of Family Physicians awards. The series is arranged in chronological order. A short biographical sketch by Dr. Jerry W. Martin, who made the nominations, is included. Dr. Lancaster's diplomas are in the collection, as well as an oral history interview conducted in 1973 which tells, among other things, of his work to establish Western's first campus bookstore in the summer of 1921. The collection also includes the KMA and KAFP awards, as well as several other certificates and awards.

Writing from Louisville, Kentucky, where intestinal illness has delayed his travel, he describes his treatment with brandy, mustard seed poultices, and morphine. He also mentions seeing “our cousins” in New Albany, Indiana, and the determination of the Southern Methodist Convention, then meeting in Louisville, to “separate from the free states.”
