The Southeastern Conference (SEC) Nursing Dean's Coalition is a purposeful alliance organized to collaboratively address several challenges that arose during the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the last three years, this strategic team of academic leaders has evolved from a crisis response team to a multidimensional support team, leveraging both individual and collective strengths, to provide several benefits to the dean members, as well as other SEC nursing faculty members, students, and institutions. Fractures of the pelvis and hip are a relatively frequent occurrence in the older population. Pelvic fractures in older patients usually occur after a fall from standing height. CT scan is the investigation of choice. There are several classifications available which are useful in risk stratification and predicting surgical treatment. Haemorrhage is a major complication and can usually be treated by interventional radiology. An Orthopedic opinion should be sought promptly, and surgical stabilisation (if indicated) should be completed as early as possible to enable early mobilisation and the avoidance of complications such as deep vein thrombosis or pneumonia.

CONTEXT: In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare-associated infections have taken center stage. Healthcare has adjusted workflows to accommodate for more robust disinfecting regiments to help protect the community. This has resulted in the need for medical institutions to reevaluate the current disinfection protocols down to the student level. The osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) laboratory provides an optimal avenue for assessing the effectiveness of medical students' ability to clean examination tables. The last two decades have seen a significant increase in the number of trauma patients with complex background co-morbidities due to advanced age. Effective end-of-life care in trauma requires physicians to begin careful, balanced and sensitive conversations encompassing goals of care and expectation-setting, in the trauma bay. In framing nations as places that either send or receive migrants, there is a danger in defining migrant-sending nations as monolithic entities driven by a single mandate of exporting labour to a global economy. Using the concept of viscosity, we argue that sending states comprise multiple state agencies with varying interests, which can either impede, slow, or facilitate labour emigration. We demonstrate our argument by examining the Philippines' nurse retention policies against the backdrop of the country's labour export policies. Problem: This Quality Improvement project aims to improve sepsis bundle education to reduce mortality and morbidity rates related to septicemia in a Medical-Surgical Telemetry Unit at a San Francisco Bay Area Hospital, Hospital Z.

Context: The Quality Improvement project occurred in a Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit at Hospital Z. This Unit is a 32 beds unit with an increased mortality and mobility rate with decreased sepsis bundle compliance.

BACKGROUND: Healthcare facilitation, an implementation strategy designed to improve the uptake of effective clinical innovations in routine practice, has produced promising yet mixed results in randomized implementation trials and has not been fully researched across different contexts.

This dissertation studies how payment incentives in health care change clinician and patient behavior and how different “value-based” payment models may impact outcomes. In Chapter 1, I explore optimal design of healthcare payment models in the presence of market frictions to targeting benefits. I leverage a natural experiment where an employer introduces Direct Primary Care, a form of care delivery where clinicians are paid a capitated monthly fee for high-touch access to a bundle of primary care services.
