Background: The current guidelines of the American society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and College of American Pathologists (CAP) regarding laboratory testing of estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR) and HER-2 in breast cancer have been in place since 2010. Optimal tissue handling requires a cold ischemic time of less than 1 hour and a formalin fixation time between 6 and 72 hours. In July 2023 HCA Westside hospital implemented a new Formalin Fixation Time documentation protocol. The data is presented quarterly at the Cancer Committee meeting.

The prevalence of AAA has declined over the past 2 decades among screened men 65 years or older in various European countries. Implementing nursing services in schools have previously demonstrated improved medical care costs for students, less productivity loss for parents, and less productivity loss for teachers. Background: The optimization of medical training is a critical concern amid dynamic shifts in both medical and societal landscapes. Research indicates that a substantial proportion of medical trainees experience stress, anxiety, and depression, with an estimated depression rate of 29% among medical residents, compared to 8% among nonphysicians. Furthermore, the suicide rate among physicians is twice that of the general population. Difficulty in adapting to new environments, responsibilities, and training levels exacerbate these challenges. Title: Do pediatric patients that receive dexmedetomidine as premedication experience less emergence delirium than pediatric patients that receive midazolam as premedication?

Problem Statement: Midazolam remains the current choice within the practice for premedication in the prevention of emergence delirium, however as research continues there could possibly be a gap between the research and current practice. Throughout the practice of pediatric anesthesia most providers choose to premedicate with midazolam while there may be a more beneficial option of dexmedetomidine.

This study examines IVF and non-IVF costs associated with prenatal, delivery, and postpartum care using claims data from Merative MarketScan Commercial and Encounter data from 2018-2020 to understand the costs associated with respective IVF singleton, twin, and multiple gestations, as compared to non-IVF singleton gestations. These patients identified as females at birth, were continuously enrolled in private insurance, and have not experienced termination of pregnancy. The Student T-test was performed on continuous variables, and logistic regression was performed on binary variables with the overall outcome variables being cost, IVF, and non-IVF, controlling for age. This research unpacks the challenges and motivations of telehealth usage among older consumers—an understudied population in the extant telehealth literature. Through surveying a sample of older consumers who regularly migrate to winter in the southern areas of the United States, our qualitative analysis uncovers motivations (i.e., convenience, ease of use, efficiency, and a forced option) and challenges (i.e., telehealth limitations, privacy concerns, and lack of trust, access, and skills) of older consumers’ telehealth usage. Further, logistic regression identifies attitude toward telehealth, gender, and health status as significant predictors of telehealth usage behavior. Contributions to theory and practice are also discussed.

Background: In the United States (U.S.), falls are the leading cause of injury among adults 65 and over, resulting in 36 million falls yearly (Moreland et al., 2020). According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, 2023), one in four older adults experiences a fall each year. Falls are the world's second most prominent cause of accidental deaths (World Health Organization [WHO], 2021). Falls are the leading cause of both fatal and non-fatal injuries among older adults (Moreland et al., 2020).

Abstract: Approximately 10% of patients with recent percutaneous intervention (PCI) have concomitant atrial fibrillation (AF) and others may have concomitant venous thromboembolism (VTE). This makes choosing the optimal antithrombotic regimen challenging. The ACC published a 2020 decision pathway to guide safe and evidence-based use of antiplatelet and anticoagulant combinations for certain patients. Studies indicate that a majority of pregnant individuals utilize virtual education platforms for various purposes, including accessing information on nutrition, exercise, baby development, and pregnancy symptoms. Despite the potential benefits, participation in these platforms remains low, emphasizing a need for enhanced resources and engagement strategies. OBJECTIVE: Anemia in pregnancy is a global health problem and complicates >40% of pregnancies. Anemia is associated with significant maternal and fetal complications including low birth weight, preterm delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, ICU admissions, need for blood transfusion, and maternal morbidity. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the CDC recommend screening for anemia at the first prenatal visit and again between 24 and 28 weeks gestation.
