Globally, approximately 3500 individuals are killed due to a road traffic injury each day, equating to nearly 1.3 million deaths each year and more than a million children are either killed by, or sustain serious injury, from road traffic incidents. School zones are locations where there may be high concentrations of children at certain hours of the day, thereby increasing their exposure to road and pedestrian injuries. The International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP), an NGO established in 2006, developed the Star Ratings measurement system, which is used globally to provide simple, comparable and objective measurements of the built-in safety of …

Health Workforce Research Center Publications
Significant Federal investments under the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act of 2009 and the Affordable Care Act have motivated many community health centers (CHCs) to implement electronic health records (EHRs) in the past few years. Evidence suggests that EHR implementation causes significant changes in how primary care clinicians spend their time and may be associated with changes in staff and facility level productivity. However, the mechanisms to explain these changes were mostly speculative. The goals of this project were to understand how, from the perspective of clinicians, support staff, and administrators, CHCs’ implementation of EHRs has …

GW Research Days 2013
PURPOSE
Mobile healthcare is a rapidly evolving opportunity to leverage technology to improve access and quality of healthcare while reducing costs and increasing the mobility of patients and providers. Innovations are often created by technical experts without adequate knowledge of the interplay between various mobile health agencies (i.e. clinical, business, regulatory, etc.). In order to improve the communication and cross-silo collaboration between mobile health leaders in a variety of fields, a multidisciplinary approach to education is necessary. Integrative teaching has received relatively little recognition in the medical education literature. This study will evaluate the effectiveness of a multidisciplinary format to …
