Abstract:
Introduction: Orthodontist tend to use one of the 2 bracket slot sizes available either the 0.018” or 0.022” bracket slot. Till now there is no reliable scientific evidence that indicates if any of them has a superior effect on the duration of teeth alignment. The aim of this study is to compare alignment duration between 0.018 and 0.022-inch bracket slot systems.
Subjects and methods: 14 Eligible participants having an age range of 14-22 years were randomly allocated to 2 groups (7 in each group). Group I: 0.018-inch and Group II: 0.022-inch slot (American orthodontics Mini master Roth prescription …

Two distinct access cavity designs were used to access Two simulated finite element models (FE). (Lingual (LAC) and incisal (IAC)). Three experimental FE models, including the IT model, were developed: LAC and IAC. For every simulated model, one distinct radicular preparations was carried out of size #30/.04. The incisal edge was subjected to an occlusal cycle load of 120 N. The maximum von mises stresses (VMS), maximum principal stresses (MPS), and stress distribution patterns were assessed and calculated quantitatively. It was concluded that the mandibular incisor's biomechanical behavior is significantly influenced by the size of the access design. Biomechanically the …

Effect Of Taper And Pitch On Nickle-Titanium File With Variable Cross Section To Its Cyclic Fatigue (In Silico Study), Yustika Chrysandra, Tunjung Nugraheni, Wignyo Hadriyanto
Journal of Dentistry Indonesia
The geometric design of an endodontic file includes cross-sectional shape, taper, and pitch. NiTi endodontic files of OneCurve (MicroMega) are made of two variations of cross-sectional shape, that is, double-s shaped and triple helix. Various kinds of modifications were made to increase the resistance of the NiTi endodontic files from fracture. Cyclic fatigue is the most common factor that causes a fracture of the endodontic file. Objective: The purpose of this study was to obtain a NiTi endodontic file design that has the best cyclic resistance value based on its taper size and number of pitch. Methods: This …

In recent years, micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) has become a promising tool for non-destructive imaging and the study of root canal morphology in endodontics. However, the reliability of such analyses heavily relies on the accuracy and consistency of the software used for image processing. Objective: This study aims to investigate the reliability of two different micro-CT voxel sizes using open-source three-dimensional (3D) software (Drishti v3.0) used to identify and quantify the Apical Foramen (AF) and Apical Constriction (AC) in mandibular premolars. Methods: Eight mandibular premolars were divided into two groups, with four samples in each group. Samples were scanned using a …

Synopsis On The Role Of Diode Laser In Root Canal Disinfection, Ashraf M. Abu-Seida, Mohamed M.N. El-Tayeb, Elhassan E. Hassanein
International Arab Journal of Dentistry
Effective root canal disinfection is necessary for success of endodontic treatment. Traditional chemo-mechanical techniques such as sodium hypochlorite, mechanical preparation and calcium hydroxide used for intracanal disinfection usually fail in cases of biofilm-related infections. Therefore, several new strategies are applied for root canal disinfection. One of these strategies is using of diode laser that has recently gained significant attention in the endodontic practice due to its antibacterial action, bio-stimulation, decrease of pain and improvement of success. Moreover, it has several advantages like its low cost, easily application, penetration power into dentine and smaller size device compared with other types of …

Anatomical Analysis Of Inferior Alveolar Nerve Relation To Mandibular Posterior Teeth Using Cone Beam Computed Tomography: A Retrospective Radiographic Analysis Study, Shehabeldin Mohamed Saber Prof.Dr.
Dentistry
Introduction: Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is reliable in the assessment of structures related to teeth. The assessment of the inferior alveolar neurovascular (IAN) bundle location using CBCT is considered one of its prime uses in different mandibular surgeries. Methodology: Retrospective CBCT data of patients presented to the institute were assessed to measure relations of IAN. Measurements were taken to assess the bone thickness adjacent to IAN, the superior-inferior dimension between the canal and the teeth, and the dimension between the canal and the inferior border of the mandible. Results: Out of the 170 patients the root apices nearest to …
