Examining The Efficacy Of A Self-Paced Online Training For Goal Writing, Allison Rosborough

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)

Educational goals can control critical aspects of intervention and progress monitoring for students with disabilities and as such are a central feature of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Military veteran students have unique characteristics and challenges that influence their academic success. The factors impacting retention of nursing students with prior military experience may differ from students with no military experience. This mixed methods study used an anonymous survey guided by Jeffreys' Nursing Undergraduate Retention and Success Model to identify factors that support or restrict prelicensure nursing program retention of military veteran students compared to students with no history of military service. Statistically significant differences between groups were detected for three factors including financial status, membership in nursing organizations or clubs, and financial aid and/or scholarship. Occupational Therapy | MSOT Capstone Projects

On March 11th, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) officially announced that COVID-19 was a “pandemic” (Kapasia et al., 2020). The impact of COVID-19 on higher education has been substantial. Teaching has changed from traditional in-person, classroom formats to distance learning platforms. As students experienced unprecedented disruptions, faculty faced challenges to provide high-quality teaching and build learning communities with their students. Preliminary global research on the COVID-19 impact on higher education has revealed mental health implications including anxiety and depression (Cao et al., 2020). Family Relationships And Academic Performance Via Belongingness Among Cuban Medical Students: Examining Family Legacy And Sex As Moderators, Maria J. Cisneros-Elias

Theses and Dissertations

Medical diplomacy is a foundational part of Cuban domestic and foreign policy (Feinsilver, 2010). Cuba has an abundance of doctors, encouraged by the country’s free medical education program (Hand et al., 2020), and has made a significant impact with its well-established healthcare system, provision of healthcare for all of its citizens, and healthcare support internationally. The current study aims to focus on processes underlying Cuban medical students’ academic performance, as they are a critical component of this successful system, and a population that has received limited empirical attention. Thus, the current study used path analyses to examine the relations between …

The Effect Of Education On The Nida Modified Assist (Nmassist) Tool On Knowledge And Screening For Substance Use Disorder Among Clinicians, Victoria Page Arnold

DNP Projects

Background: Substance use disorder (SUD) is a disparity affecting nearly 24 million individuals in the U.S., nearly 10% of the total population. Oftentimes, the emergency department (ED) is the only medical care this population receives. There is often a lack of screening for SUD in ED’s, therefore referred care may be limited for these individuals. The National Institute on Drug Abuse Modified Assist (NMASSIST) is an evidence-based tool developed to educate and screen for SUD. This tool can be completed in a timely manner and aid in the recommended referral of care for this select population.

Purpose: The purpose of …

The project was grounded on Knowles’s adult learning theory and the Dreyfus model of skill acquisition. Learning material using competency-based education was developed using the analyze, design, …

Newly Graduated Baccalaureate Nurses Critical-Thinking Development, Norberto Rosado Jan 2022

Newly Graduated Baccalaureate Nurses Critical-Thinking Development, Norberto Rosado

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

For the nursing profession, critical thinking is essential to provide safe and effectivepatient care. While the development of critical thinking skills is a desired outcome for newly graduated baccalaureate nurses, many lack the ability to make critical decisions. The absence of critical thinking among newly graduated nurses may be related to a lack of exposure to the clinical environment during their academic experience. This study explored how critical thinking processes can be affected by different approaches to baccalaureate clinical nursing education in Puerto Rico. A descriptive qualitative approach was used to understand the perceptions of newly graduated baccalaureate nurses regarding …

Nurse Management Education To Improve Job Satisfaction And Nurse Retention, Motunrayo Omoloye Adegorusi

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Abstract Nurses play a critical role as primary care providers in correctional facilities, as well as custodians of security. However, there is a significant disparity in the supply of nurses in correctional settings relative to other practice settings, which is a major gap in practice. The current problem arises from the inability to retain nurses in the correctional settings. Prisons have a harsh work environment characterized by a difficult patient population and stringent policies that govern operations. Additionally, a high level of bureaucracy impedes system reforms and transformations. The purpose of the DNP project was to find out if the …
