Addressing the gaps identified by previous health literacy assessments in the Rio Grande Valley, this study evaluated an educational intervention aiming to enhance eHealth literacy among adolescents at a Title I high school by incorporating peer-to-peer education that targeted state educational standards for high school health science courses. Results demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in students' mean eHEALS scores by 6.56%, notably in using online health resources effectively. However, students' abilities to critically evaluate health information showed less improvement. Although statistically significant, the practical relevance of these improvements on students' real-world health-seeking behaviors requires further investigation, pointing to the necessity …

Support Needs For Registered Nurses To Bachelor Of Science In Nursing Students In Kenyan Universities, Gladys Mbuthia, Gisela H. Van Rensburg, Sheila Shaibu
School of Nursing & Midwifery, East Africa
Higher percentages of the registered nurses (RN) workforce with a bachelor's degree have been associated with better patient outcomes. RN with a diploma in nursing who are upgrading their qualifications to a bachelor's degree in nursing enter universities in Kenya as mature and part-time students. Studies have shown that mature and part-time students in universities have a higher attrition than their full-time peers. They are less likely to access extra support and personal development opportunities available at university, have a history of campus isolation, and fewer opportunities to engage with campus peers. The purpose of the study was to explore …

Abstract
The field of speech-language pathology has demonstrated growth in bilingual assessment and evaluations. However, many questions remain regarding formal and informal assessment practices, intervention recommendations, and cultural competency or responsiveness. Sixty-one SLPs in Virginia completed a survey on demographics, bilingual assessment practices, cultural competence, and language development of ELL students. Seven SLPs who work with bilingual and/or ELL students were also interviewed to ascertain bilingual assessment practices, cultural competence, and language development knowledge. Areas of concern included assessment of bilingual students, lack of developmental norms and standardized assessment tools in languages other than English, and lack of knowledge of …

Does College Guarantee Economic Mobility?: Incorporating Lost In-Kind Benefits Into The Calculation, Amy S. White
Does College Guarantee Economic Mobility?: Incorporating Lost In-Kind Benefits Into The Calculation, Amy S. White
Publications and Research
Average salaries of college graduates are higher than salaries of those without degrees. However, the experience of graduating and out-earning the income requirements for in-kind or entitlement benefits like Medicaid, public assistance, Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Plan, and/or Section 8 housing vouchers are not taken into consideration in any mobility calculation nor are students prepared to lose their benefits. Teaching at an urban commuter school in a financially disadvantage borough, I have identified a gap in the research literature and supportive services for these low-income students. This opinion piece further describes the problem and highlights areas for future action and research.

In fact, women remain significantly underrepresented in sport coaching. Research highlights ongoing barriers within the sport industry's patriarchal structure, and although strategies have been proposed to improve women’s representation, the lack of progress over the past two decades indicates limited effectiveness. A better approach is essential to address this issue across individual, interpersonal, organizational, and societal levels. The purpose of this study is to interview participants within the U.S. cross-country skiing program, Trail to …
