During the past few years many physicians, nurses, psychologists, teachers, and physical educators have begun to place more emphasis upon the developmental problems of children. As an outgrowth of this, more attention has been given the child showing mild to moderate motor problems. As a result of these more subtle difficulties going unrecognized and untreated, children may suffer from learning disorders, lack of acceptance by teachers and peers, maladaptive behavior and feelings of low self-esteem (Cratty, 1970; Kiphard, -1970; and Ferinden, 1972).

Evaluation Of A Precision Filing Test For Predicting Dental Technic Performance, Douglass Roberts

Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects

A precision filing test involving the reduction of a steel cylinder to a perfect cube with the use of a hand file and bench vise was devised as a diagnostic tool for the early detection of freshman students having technic difficulties. The test was administered to 188 freshman dental students in three classes at Loma Linda University, School of Dentistry. Subjective and objective scores were then statistically compared with subsequent technic and clinic grades of the students. Many times we have seen high school and college athletes who play just like their older brothers...they have learned through imitation. Some of our college ball players have certain habits in footwork and as we question them further they respond that their high school coach taught it that way. On May 8, 1975 the New England Foundation for Osteopathic Medicine (NEFOM) and Saint Francis College signed a Memorandum of Agreement creating the New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, which would become the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and an undergraduate college which would become the University of New England.

Effects Of Different Levels Of Precision Of Knowledge Of Results On The Acquisition Of A Motor Skill, Wenda D. Johnson

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

Students enrolled in two beginning bowling classes received the same basic instruction on bowling techniques, but practiced under two different levels of precision of knowledge of results (KOR). The experimental group practiced by rolling at a full set of ten bowling pins with each ball (precise KOR). The control group practiced by shadow bowling (general KOR). There were no significant differences between groups in the effects of the two practice conditions upon the acquisition skills. There were no significant groups by tests interaction either. There was, however, a significant trials effect across groups. It was concluded that although both practice …
