Morphological And Microscopical Examination Of The Rat Brachial Plexus, Ahmet Uzun, Nureddi̇n Cengi̇z, Ahmet Kavakli, Saci̇de Karakaş

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The rat brachial plexus was studied morphologically and the average numbers of the fascicles were studied by light microscope. For this purpose, we used 30 Wistar albino adult rats (16 males, 14 females; 180-250 g). The rats were anaesthetized by urethane (0.6 ml/100 g body weight injected i.p.). The brachial plexus was prepared for the microdissection technique and was evaluated in terms of its formation. Sections of the origin level of roots (C_5, C_6, C_7, C_8 and Th_1) and the terminal branches (ulnar, median, radial (musculospiral), axillary (circumflex), and musculocutaneous nerves) were taken and the average numbers of fascicles were …

Morphological Characters Of The Honeybee (Apis Mellifera L.) Of The Artvin Borçka-Camili (Macahel) Region, Ahmet Güler

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study was conducted in order to determine the morphological characters of the honeybee (Apis mellifera L.) and to identify the genotype grown in the Camili area of the northeastern Anatolian region. A total of 24 experimental samples were collected from 3 apiaries in different locations. From each sample, 20 workers were examined and 29 morphological characters were measured biometrically. There were significant differences between the apiaries with respect to: the length of the femur, width of tergite 3, width of tergite 4, length of the wax plate of sternite 3 (longitudinal), width of the forewing, length of the hind …

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The morphology of the spinal cord in 15 chickens, 15 ducks and 15 pigeons obtained from the Ankara region were examined. The spinal cord consisted of 15 cervical, 7 thoracic, 14 lumbosacral and 5 coccygeal segments (a total of 41 segments) in the chickens; 15 cervical, 8 thoracic, 16 lumbosacral and 5 coccygeal segments (a total of 44 segments) in the ducks and 13 cervical, 6 thoracic, 13 lumbosacral and 5 coccygeal segments (a total of 37 segments) in the pigeons. The cervical enlargement was composed of cervical segments 13-15 and thoracic segments 1-2 in the chickens; cervical segments 12-15 …
