Plantar fasciitis is a common complaint of many people at some point throughout their lifetime. The aim of this presentation is to provide an in-depth clinical review and comparison of two treatment options for chronic plantar fasciitis; steroid injections and platelet-rich plasma injections. Acute cases of plantar fasciitis are caused by inflammation of the plantar fascia of the foot. Therefore, common initial treatments include stretching of the calf muscle, stretching of the plantar fascia itself, rest, use of night splints, and orthotics. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the claimed effects of a new technique called Tissue Flossing and compare those effects with Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, or IASTM. Background: Tissue flossing is a relatively new technique that utilizes a large rubber band that is wrapped around the involved joint. Once applied, range of motion exercises are completed, and the band is removed. The goal is to increase joint range of motion. Burkholderia cepacia is an opportunistic pathogen that causes infections in immunocompromised individuals such as cystic fibrosis patients. B. cepacia infections are typically characterized by the formation of complex communities of cells known as biofilms. Because B. cepacia biofilms are difficult to eradicate using antibiotics, it is important to pursue alternative treatment methods. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a type of therapy that uses light, a photosensitizer, and oxygen to elicit cell death through the production of reactive oxygen species. Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) are commonly prescribed antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) to manage seizures, manage behavior, and stabilize mood. Though research has been done on the effects of antiepileptic medications in patients with epilepsy, little study has been done on the persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities population. After surveying IDD patients with a history and current use of AEDs on osteoprotective behaviors, we were unable to use SPSS due to incomplete surveys and low sample sizes. The purpose of this study was to take known experimental loads throughout normal gait and to find the corresponding loading at the knee for both normal gait and abnormal gait. Abnormal gait was defined as a person with varus, i.e. “bowleggedness”, or a person who had an external rotation of the femur (or the inability to internally rotate the femur) which caused an indirect varus in the forward positions of gait. This problem was approached by imposing static equilibrium on the femur. This allowed the loads at the knee to be calculated from the loading at the hip. In order …
