Bogs are fascinating places to visit! One may compare these sphagnum-covered areas with huge amphitheatres covered with wall- to-wall carpets intricately woven into multistructured mats. To the novice or one without botanical training, these areas might appear as monotonous assemblages of only a few species of stunted plants so similar in appearance as to appear homogeneous, but a keen observer will detect as many different species as might be found in a rich woods.
