Influence Of Lipolytic Enzymes On The Fractional Composition Of Wheat Alcohol, Bobir S. Kayumov, Saida Sh. Khakimova, Khasan T. Khasanov
CHEMISTRY AND CHEMICAL ENGINEERING
The purpose of this work is to study the influence of lipolytic enzymes on the fermentation activity and fractional composition of alcohol by the yeast Saccharamyces cerevisea during alcoholic fermentation. Lipolytic enzymes, intensifying the fermentation process and increasing the yield of the target product, have a positive effect on the physiological activity of yeast cells. Hydrolysis of carboxylic acid esters also occurs due to the hydrolase activity of lipases. In the presence of exogenous lipases, hydrolysis of lipids occurs due to the hydrolase activity of lipases and the fractional composition of alcohol changes. The content of esters is reduced by …

Evaluation Of Mixing Efficacy Of Carriers For Supplemental Nutrient Premixes In Animal Feed, Dalton Holt, Charles G. Aldrich
Kansas Agricultural Experiment Station Research Reports
Animal feed is commonly formulated with vitamin and mineral premixes to supply the micronutrient requirements of the animal. Premixes typically require carriers which act as a delivery system for micronutrients to aid in uniformity, dilution, and dispersibility across the entire mix. However, little information is available regarding how different carriers might influence the dispersion of nutrients throughout a premix. Therefore, the main objective was to develop a method to systematically evaluate the mixing efficacy of different carriers in a premix formulation. A currently established analysis of mixer uniformity was adapted and repurposed for the evaluation of the premix carriers, rice …

The Economics Of On-Farm Rice Drying In Arkansas, Clayton J. Parker, Lanier Nalley
The Economics Of On-Farm Rice Drying In Arkansas, Clayton J. Parker, Lanier Nalley
Discovery, The Student Journal of Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences
Globally, rice producers are faced with the temporal problem of deciding the optimal time to harvest rice. When harvested, paddy rice is typically at a harvest moisture content (HMC) between 15% and 22% and subsequently dried by the mill to a moisture content (MC) of 12.5%. Riceland Foods Inc., the largest miller of rice in the world, uses a stair-step pricing model to charge farmers to dry, which can complicate the timing of harvest as producers try to balance the tradeoff of minimizing drying costs by waiting to harvest at lower HMC vs. maintaining higher rice quality typically observed when …
