Salinity Stress Mitigation By Foliar Feeding Of Salicylic Acid On Maize (Zea Mays L.) Grown Under Hydroponic Culture, Zubair Aslam, Ali Ahmad, Anser Ali, Alam Sher, Muhammad Sarwar

Journal of Bioresource Management

Salicylic acid (SA) is mainly associated with the regulation of plant growth particularly in salinity stress conditions and this signaling molecule exists in pivotal parts of plant. The objective of this research analysis was to overcome stress condition by distinct foliar treatments of Salicylic acid, for instance, 0 and 100 mM. Foliar applications of SA on maize were rendered on 10 days later than transplanting under a hydroponics experiment. Plants were grown under non-saline (S0= 0 mM NaCl) and saline (S1= 100 mM NaCl) conditions. Evaluation of biochemical, physiological and morphological attributes of maize was rendered …

Impact Of Wastewater And Canal Water Irrigation On The Accumulation Of Copper In Maize And Millet Of Different Districts Of Punjab Pakistan, Ifra Saleem Malik, Zafar Iqbal Khan, Kafeel Ahmad, Humayun Bashir, Asma Ashfaq, Mudasra Munir, Sobia Fiaz

Journal of Bioresource Management

In current work, we examined the absorption of metal Copper in generally grown food crops (Maize & Millet), cultivated in the waste water irrigated different Districts of Punjab, Pakistan. Analyzed samples of Water, Soil, shoot and grain were processed through atomic absorption spectrometric method. Our findings of Copper in water and Shoot were highest for Millet of Sargodha, irrigated with wastewater (1.69 mg/kg and 1.43 mg/kg respectively). In soil and grain samples maximum absorption of Cu was obtained in the waste water irrigated Maize (Sargodha) and Millet (Sheikhupura). Overall, Cu level was within the acceptable parameters set by FAO/WHO (2001). …

Hydropriming Associated Physiological And Biochemical Changes Responsible For The Enhanced Planting Value Of Maize Hybrid And Its Parental Line Seeds, Heena Rasool Mir, Shiv Yadav, Sangita Yadav

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Hydropriming has the potential to ameliorate the stress-induced ill effects on yields of the crop plants and quality of seed produced. In the present study, half of the fresh seeds of maize hybrid, PEHM 5 and its parental lines (Female - CM 150, Male - CM 151) were subjected to accelerated aging test for bringing down the viability and vigour, thereby creating low vigour lots while high vigour lots consisted of fresh seeds, which were hydroprimed (30 h at 25 °C). Half of the hydroprimed seeds were surface dried while the other half were redried back to the original moisture …
