Hadhramout University Journal of Natural & Applied Sciences

The study had been conducted in Wadi Hadhramaut. Regular tree samples from windbreaks and shelterbelts had been collected for at least 3% sample size of each site while measurements of each tree were applied. High percentages of trees growth for height and stem diameter occurred in summer while crown width in spring. Evidence of measured trees in agricultural areas showed low and high figures of standard deviations ( ±0.538 - ±2.211m , ±0.539 -±3.289 m and ±1.652 - ±6.775 cm ) for height , crown width and stem diameter respectively, while the coefficient variation range of these characters were 7.06 …

Replanting Of Aloe Inermis And Aloe Eremophila And Their Bitter Sap Exudation Quantity And Time Of Extraction, Ahmed Salem Bataher

Hadhramout University Journal of Natural & Applied Sciences

Aloe inermis and Aloe eremophila are a drought resistance species habituating plateaus and high mountains. These two plants can survive outside their natural habitation and they can be irrigated under basin or drip irrigation systems. The plant sap can be collected locally at noon by cutting leaves from the bases beyond 2.5 cm of the stem. The mean dry sap production is ranged between 0.37 – 0.47 gm/Leaf for the species Aloe inermis and Aloe eremophila respectively. Statistical analysis of the dry sap production revealed a significant difference between means of the two species at 5% of level which the …

laboratory experiment was conducted in the laboratory of graduate studies at the Faculty of Science, Hadhramout University during the period from 3/8 - 15/3/2018 to study the effect of different concentrations of gibberellin acid (GA3) and aqueous extract of licorice roots on the percentage and germination rate of the mallow plant, and the length of the radial and plurmule . The seeds were soaked for a whole day in concentrations of gibberellin acid (0, 50, 100 ppm), and the aqueous extract of licorice roots at concentrations (0, 5, 10 g / l). Other seeds were left without soaking. Then all …

A 4477 palmswere surveyed of these trees 322 palms (4.27%) were found infested by Red palmweevil. The results showed a level of old infestation between 25 – 34% and a level of new infestation between 31 – 37%. The pest incidence was also differenced according to date varieties different among date varieties different. Eighteen investigated date palm varieties showed different response towards infestation by RPW. Sabiahsafra and Khalas were highly affected …

The results showed significant differences between the three cultivars for all studied parameters except for the root dry weight mg./seedling. The cultivar "HAIQ" was the most tolerant one, then the cultivar "SAIF", whereas the cultivar "BAINI" was the least tolerant one (95%, 92.1% and 89.4%, respectively). The cultivar "HAIQ" …

Wadi Shohouh is linked with a southern plateau of main Wadi Hadhramaut. Areas of 25000 ha in the valley are irrigated by a spate irrigation system where rainfall may exceed 150 mm annually but it may reach 50 mm less in other year. Ziziphus ( Seder ) trees are distributed on simple sloping terraces basins varied between 6000 -14580 m². After felling Seder trees, ten of regenerated trees from each farm had been selected randomly. Seder trees had been left for five years under traditional management farming system and at the end of each year, tree’s coppices are counted and …
