Studies On Bean Yellow Mosaic Virus In Pasture Species And Lupins., Simon Mckirdy, R. Jones

Experimental Summaries - Plant Research

Trial 90PE11

Location: South Perth.

A survey was conducted to determine the extent of Bean Yellow Mosaic Virus (BYMV) infection in subterranean clover pastures. The pastures were sampled in October by officers from each of the country districts and from south Perth. 100 samples were collected from each pasture, 1 sample every 5 paces , and sent to south Perth. The ELISA test and the Gibbs and Gower formula were used to determine a percentage BYMV infection for each infected pasture.

Trial 90PE10

Strategic variety mixtures to reduce septoria diseases of wheat. Evaluation of wheat lines for suitability to mixing for septoria control.

Location: Mt. Barker Research Station

To determine components of partial resistance to both Septoria species to ensure that lines with components that are complimentary are chosen for evaluation as mixtures for Septoria control.

Trial 90MT12 and 90ME10

Assessing effects of a paired variety mixture to reduce Septoria.

Location: Borden and Mt Barker Research Station.

To assess the effects of a variety mixture on Septoria diseases.

Trial 90MT11 and 90JE9

Evaluating variety mixtures to reduce septoria, using a range …

Trial90V1 and 90W1

Assessment of pasture productivity in subterranean clover pastures infected with SCMV.

Location: Woogenellup, Vasse and Wokalup.

These trials measure SCMV disease progress, herbage and seed production losses in Woogenellup pasture swards which are: (i) initially artificially infected by using infected transplants in the first year; and ii) naturally infected via seed transmission of the virus in year two. Trials are grazed by sheep throughout the season, maintaining the pasture height at less than 20 cm.

Trial 90PE5

Assessment of sensitivity/resistance to subterranean clover mottle virus in selected subterranean clover cultivars.

Location: Pemberton

Subterranean clover cultivars, recommended for …
