An Economic Impact Analysis Of The Proposed Yakima/Klickitat Fishery Enhancement Project; Preliminary Design Report, Appendix D., Richard S. Mack, Donald J. Cocheba, Daniel Green, David W. Hedrick

Economics Faculty Scholarship

The objective of this study is to estimate the economic impact of the proposed Yakima/Klickitat Production Project on the local economies of the Yakima and Klickitat subbasins. The project, when operating at planned maximum production, will augment the total number of salmon and steelhead returning to the subbasins by 77,600 and will increase the sustainable terminal harvest by 55,160. These estimates do not include fish harvested in the ocean or in the mainstem Columbia. In addition to evaluating the impacts of the construction, operations and maintenance, experimentation and monitoring, and harvest activities described in the Draft Environmental Assessment (Bonneville Power …

Fishing Licences As Security For Loans., Fisheries Department Of Western Australia. Nov 1989

Fishing Licences As Security For Loans., Fisheries Department Of Western Australia.

Fisheries management papers

During mid 1988 the Minister for Fisheries at that time, the Hon Julian Grill, sought the establishment of a committee of advice to examine security arrangements for financial institutions providing funds for fishing licences and fishing boats. The prime objective of the Committee was to examine and report upon the requirements for establishing fishing licences as a form of collateral for loans. The major issue before the Committee arose from licence holders seeding generally the means by which their investment in a fishing licence could be used as security, whereas lending institutions sought to ensure their loans would be adequately …

Boundaries and Water: Allocation and Use of a Shared Resource (Summer Conference, June 5-7)

Conference organizers and/or faculty included University of Colorado School of Law professors David H. Getches, Lawrence J. MacDonnell and Charles F. Wilkinson.

Boundaries and Water: Allocation and Use of a Shared Resource is the topic of the Center's annual summer program on water this June. Most of the major rivers in the western United States are shared between two or more states. Often tribal governments play an important role in water allocation and use decisions. International considerations also may be involved in some cases. These interjurisdictional issues extend to groundwater as well as surface water.

This conference will provide the …

Red Swamp Crayfish Ecology In Lake Mead, Suzanne E. Leavitt, Jennifer Stephens Haley, Mikell Hager, Donald H. Baepler, Nevada Department Of Wildlife Mar 1989

Red Swamp Crayfish Ecology In Lake Mead, Suzanne E. Leavitt, Jennifer Stephens Haley, Mikell Hager, Donald H. Baepler, Nevada Department Of Wildlife

Publications (WR)

Red swamp crayfish (Procambarus clarkii) were trapped in Flamingo Wash, an urban wash of Las Vegas, during four periods of 1988. Life history and reproductive success were determined. The trapped crayfish were marked and released into a study cove in Lake Mead as part of an experimental stocking program. Retrap data from the study cove were used to determine life history, habitat preferences, and movement patterns of the stocked crayfish. In addition, a literature search was done on red swamp crayfish ecology, including food preferences, life history, habitat preferences and fish predation.

Feasibility Of Crab Meal Processing In The Chesapeake Bay Region Ii: An Integrated Economic Analysis For Hampton/Newport News, Virginia, Phillip R. Grulich, William D. Dupaul

Reports

The crab waste problem in Virginia and Maryland has been well documented by past research efforts, (Hatem, 1980) (Murray and DuPaul 1981) (Cathcart et, al.1984). Murray and DuPaul (1981) documented both the magnitude and location of the problem in Maryland and Virginia. Their analysis provided a description of the total waste disposal problem in the Bay and pinpointed specific trouble spots. The report provided enterprise budgets for three locations; Hampton, Virginia, Crisfield, Maryland, and Cambridge, Maryland. These locations were chosen because of their proximity to crab processors and their ability to produce sufficient quantities of crab waste to make a …
