A Review On The Control Of Eutrophication In Deep And Shallow Lakes, Meryem Bekli̇oğlu
A Review On The Control Of Eutrophication In Deep And Shallow Lakes, Meryem Bekli̇oğlu
Turkish Journal of Zoology
There has been a much debate about the relative importance of the determination of phytoplankton crops by nutrients (bottom-up control) or by zooplankton grazing (top-down control). Wide acceptance of the importance of nutrient concentrations in water quality deterioration has brought about external nutrient control by which eutrophication is, to some extent, reversible, and which has been proved its effectiveness mostly in deep lakes. In shallow lakes its effectiveness has not been as pronounced, owing to internal nutrient loading. Because the non-linearity of responses of biological systems is much more accentuated in small and shallow lakes. The use of profound effects …
A Taxonomic Study On The Fish In The Basin Of Büyükçekmece Dam Lake, Müfi̇t Özuluğ
A Taxonomic Study On The Fish In The Basin Of Büyükçekmece Dam Lake, Müfi̇t Özuluğ
Turkish Journal of Zoology
This study was carried out to determine the fish fauna of the basin of Büyükçekmece Dam Lake and to study the taxonomic characteristics of the fish present. As a result of examined the 586 specimens collected between April 1995 and September 1997, it was revealed that 23 fish species, including 4 subspecies, belonging to 10 families, were found in the basin of Büyükçekmece Dam Lake. This paper gives the diagnostic characteristics of these fish.
Accumulaton Of Metal And Metal Mixture In The Spleen, Brain And Muscle Tissues Of Tilapia Nilotica, Murat Karakoç, Feri̇t Kargin
Accumulaton Of Metal And Metal Mixture In The Spleen, Brain And Muscle Tissues Of Tilapia Nilotica, Murat Karakoç, Feri̇t Kargin
Turkish Journal of Zoology
Accumulation of zinc and copper in the spleen, brain and muscle tisses of Tilapia nilotica was investigated by using copper (0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 ppm) and zinc (1.0, 5.0 and 10.0 ppm) and copper-zinc mixture (0.1+1.0, 0.5+5.0 and 1.0+10.0 ppm) in the medium for the periods of 30 and 60 days. No mortality was observed during the exposure to of copper, zinc and copper-zinc mixtures over 60 days In both cases (alone and mixture) the highest levels of zinc and copper were accumulated in the spleen, whereas accumulation was the lowest in the brain. Accumulation of a metal in the …
Effects Of Salinity On The Accumulation Of Copper In Liver, Gill And Muscle Tissues Of Tilapia Nilotica, Murat Karakoç
Effects Of Salinity On The Accumulation Of Copper In Liver, Gill And Muscle Tissues Of Tilapia Nilotica, Murat Karakoç
Turkish Journal of Zoology
In this study, effects of 5, 10, 15 and 20 NaCl concentrations on the accumulation of copper in liver, gill and muscle tissues of Tilapia niloticawere studied over experimental periods of 1, 7, 15 and 30 days at concentrations of 0.1, 1.0 and 10.0 ppm copper in the medium. The highest levels of copper were found in the liver and the lowest values in the muscle tissue in a given NaCl and metal concentration. Accumulation of copper in the liver tissue, however, increased with increasing copper concentrations in the medium in all salt concentrations. The increase of the NaCl concentration …
