Constructed wetlands are becoming an increasingly important management tool to reduce nutrient rich agricultural runoff in the Great Lakes region. The objective of this study was to assess the removal efficiency of two constructed wetlands operating on tributaries of Grand Lake St. Marys (Prairie Creek and Coldwater Creek) located in northwest Ohio. Water samples were collected weekly during 2019 year from inflow and outflow points where they were analyzed for nutrient (nitrate-N, total phosphorus, dissolved reactive phosphorus) concentrations following standard EPA colorimetric methods. Wetlands are increasingly becoming a cornerstone of stream remediation in the highly eutrophic regions of the Midwestern United States. Wetlands have numerous advantages over other technologies as they incorporate natural biological process resultant from plants and bacteria while also providing an increase in wildlife habitat and greenspaces rather than relying on costly and technologically complex processes to treat waterways. The capacity for wetlands to remediate nutrients and improve water clarity is fairly well established. The Hydrogeomorphic (HGM) Approach is a method for developing and applying indices for the site-specific assessment of wetland functions. The HGM Approach was initially designed to be used in the context of the Clean Water Act Section 404 Regulatory Program permit review process to analyze project alternatives, minimize impacts, assess unavoidable impacts, determine mitigation requirements, and monitor the success of compensatory mitigation. However, a variety of other potential uses have been identified, including the design of wetland restoration projects, and management of wetlands.

The specific objectives of this project were to (1) map the distribution in Maine of eccentric bogs; (2) map the surface physical features and vegetation of a large sample of Maine's eccentric bogs; (3) determine for these bogs the vascular plant, bryophyte, and lichen flora; types and structure of vegetation; peat interstitial water chemistry; relationships between vegetation-flora and water chemistry; subsurface features relating to origins and development; and (4) evaluate the bogs for their unique and exemplary characteristics an d recommend certain of them to the Maine Critica l Areas Program for designation as Critical Areas.

John Rosslott V. Greene And Lawrence Drainage District

Farming in Arkansas

John A. Rosslott owned land in Lawrence County that was assessed for taxes in 1912. He disputed the amount assessed and the court issued a decree for the new amount that Rosslott owed to the Drainage District. However, there was an error in the court's decree. In 1913, Rosslott filed this petition for an order of "nunc pro tunc" which is a Latin legal term that means "now for then" and would amend the previous court decree to include an additional tract of land that was missed. The money from these taxes went towards draining the Cache River and surrounding …
