Many people go into martial relationships with a previous history of childhood maltreatment. This can cause marital problems later on in the marriage if steps are not taken to help the individual heal from the abuse. To find relevant information to help in this understanding, a diverse amount of websites were researched including blogs, scholarly articles, data observations, and therapy websites.
