Effects Of Triphasic Training On Strength And Power On Men's Volleyball Players, Grant Kastelan
Effects Of Triphasic Training On Strength And Power On Men's Volleyball Players, Grant Kastelan
Theses
Triphasic training is a method popularized by Cal Dietz (Dietz & Peterson, 2012) which includes three different phases: accumulation, transmutation, and realization. Different goals are set for each phase with power development being the overarching theme. During the accumulation phase, the training block is split into the three muscle actions eccentric, isometric, and concentric. During each phase, one action is the emphasis of the program. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the accumulation phase of the triphasic training program on collegiate men's volleyball players I-Repetition Max strength, vertical jump, and isometric force. Additionally, the researcher …
The Effect Of Psychological Skills Training On Elite Youth Baseball Hitting Performance, Andrew Hammerlinck
The Effect Of Psychological Skills Training On Elite Youth Baseball Hitting Performance, Andrew Hammerlinck
Theses
Psychological skills training continues to grow in popularity amongst athletes and coaches of various levels. However, there is still a lack of research in different populations on the benefits of psychological skills training. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a psychological skills training program on the hitting performance and Athletic Coping Skills Inventory-28 of elite youth baseball players.
A total of 27 participants completed a baseline, pre-test, and post-test hitting test along with pre-test and post-test ACS[-28 measures. A 6-month follow up ACSI-28 and focus group was conducted with 17 of the original participants. The …
Effects Of Rapid Weight Loss And Dehydration On Performance In Female Collegiate Wrestlers, Brittany David
Effects Of Rapid Weight Loss And Dehydration On Performance In Female Collegiate Wrestlers, Brittany David
Theses
BACKGROUND: Limited information is available on the physiological responses of female collegiate wrestlers to weight cutting practices and their impact on performance. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of rapid weight loss (R WL) and dehydration on the performance of female collegiate wrestlers one hour post RWL, and 12-hours postRWL.
METHODS: Five female collegiate wrestlers (age= 20.0 ± l .2 yrs, 62.9±2.2 in., 152.9±32.5 fbs., 27.24±3.33% body fat) underwent a pre-competition style period ofRWL where they voluntary cut 5.3 ± 0.2% of their initial body mass in four days. Performance tests were performed prior to …

The Relationship Between Lower Extremity Strength, Mobility, Movement Quality, And Pain In Collegiate Synchronized Swimmers, Paul Borges Costa
The Relationship Between Lower Extremity Strength, Mobility, Movement Quality, And Pain In Collegiate Synchronized Swimmers, Paul Borges Costa
Theses
Synchronized swimming is a physically demanding sport that exposes the lower extremity to unusual forces. Currently, limited information exists that outlines the modifiable factors associated with knee pain experienced by synchronized swimmers.
PURPOSE: This study's aim was to identify the relationship between strength, mobility, movement quality, and pain in collegiate synchronized swimmers.
METHODS: Sixteen collegiate synchronized swimmers (mean ± SD, 20.5 ± l.8y; 165.8 ± 5.1cm; 63.8 ± 5.8kg) were tested. Hip musculature isometric strength was measured using an external force transducer. Hip mobility and Q-angle was assessed using a goniometer. Movement quality was deternined using the Functional Movement Screen …
The Effect Of A Neuromuscular Training Program On Jump Landing Performance, Richard Alan Aley
The Effect Of A Neuromuscular Training Program On Jump Landing Performance, Richard Alan Aley
Theses
Injury to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is highly prevalent within competitive sports of all levels and types. Female athletes are at higher risk for sustaining an ACL injury. specifically those participating in field and court based sports involving large dynamic movements, such as soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and gymnastics. The use of neuromuscular training to promote proper mechanics during jumping and change of direction activities may decrease the risk of ACL injury.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of a neuromuscular trai11ing program on jump landing mechanics in female college athletes.
METHODS: Forty-three female Division …
An Exploration Of The Concept Of Athletic Identity Among Athletic Trainers, Michael J. Lane
An Exploration Of The Concept Of Athletic Identity Among Athletic Trainers, Michael J. Lane
Theses
The purpose of this research study is to develop an understanding of how athletic trainers identify themselves in a vocational context. Additionally, this research is designed to explore perceptions of self-confidence. competence, and what attitudes athletic trainers have towards the practice of sport psychology within their professional field. Athletic trainers are often looked at as the primary medical professionals who provide care for athletes immediately following injury. evaluate and treat athletic injuries. assist with rehabilitation. design return to play exercise programs and have numerous other job requirements. The Athletic Training Identity Measurement Scale (ATIMS) was developed as a tool that …
Comparison Between Hear Rate Based Training, Perceived Effort, And Power Based Training In Competitive Elite Cyclists, Joshua Allen Carter
Comparison Between Hear Rate Based Training, Perceived Effort, And Power Based Training In Competitive Elite Cyclists, Joshua Allen Carter
Theses
There are many different philosophies on how cyclist should train and about the different training modes available to them. It is important to know how to use these different modes of training to maximize the efforts. Training with power, heart rate, and perceived effort all have several advantages and disadvantages. The purpose of this study was to compare these different modes of training over an 8 week period to see if there is a difference between them. The participants were tested before and after the training period to show if there was any significant differences between them.
The study consisted …
