The Effects Of Ga3 Treatment On Yield, Carbohydrate, And Endogenous Hormone Changes In Memecik Olive Cultivar, Sali̇h Ülger, Sabri̇ye Atmaca, Sara Demi̇ral

In this experiment, 100 ppm gibberellic acid (GA3) was applied to Memecik olive trees in the middle of June in the `on' (bearing) year to research the effects on yield, reducing sugar amount, and endogenous hormones with the purpose of bearing fruit regularly. The yield was 19.33 kg/tree in control plants and 17.33 kg/tree in GA3-treated plants in the `on' year. The yield was 7.17 kg/tree in GA3-treated plants and 4.00 kg/tree in control plants in the 'off' year. While GA3 treatment was not very effective on the decrease of fruit amount in the `on' year, it increased fruit amount …

Genetic Diversity Among Melon (Cucumis Melo L.) Accessionsrevealed By Morphological Traits And Issr Markers, Niyazi Guliyev, Saida Sharifova, Javid Ojaghi, Mehraj Abbasov, Zeynal Akparov

The genetic relationships among 48 melon (Cucumis melo L.) genotypes collected from various parts of Azerbaijan were determined by comparing their phenotypic and molecular traits. Eleven agromorphological traits and 10 polymorphic inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) primers were used to define the genetic diversity. Principal component analysis grouped the agromorphological traits into the first four axes, describing 78% of the total variations. The highest genetic variation coefficient was found for yield per hectare (20.32%) and for fruit length (17.35%). Calculated heritability for yield was 0.96. The analysis of morphological traits grouped the accessions into four clusters. The 10 ISSR primers yielded …

The aim of this study was to evaluate different rootstocks for improving triploid seed production of the dessert watermelon, Citrullus lanatus. This 2-year study was conducted at two locations, in open fields at Antalya and Adana, Turkey, during the 2016 and 2017 growing seasons. The tetraploid watermelon line 'ST 101' was used as the female parent scion and the diploid line 'WL 92' as the male parent. Both parental lines were grafted onto three different rootstocks to determine the effect of grafting on seed yield and quality of triploid watermelon.
