This paper discusses the article "Trafficking and Health" by Joanna Busza, Sarah Castle, and Aisse Diarra. Human trafficking is unfortunately addressed by many political systems as a migration issue ‐‐ to be dealt with by restricting the rights of migrants, tightening border controls, etc. However, as we see in this article it is more of a health and human rights issue than anything else. Addressing a problem with the wrong diagnosis does nothing to solve it and oftentimes exacerbates it, and human trafficking is no exception to this. This Comment focuses on the sexual exploitation of both adult women and girls in the life of prostitution. The primary purpose is to explore the difficulties faced by American citizens who are exploited in prostitution (as opposed to foreign nationals who are subject to exploitation). This Comment focuses only on state and local prostitution laws, as opposed to global or federal laws on prostitution. It takes the position that prostitution is not a chosen profession for the vast majority and that prostitution is sexual exploitation. Despite being married to a U.S. citizen, non-citizen transgender individuals and non-citizen spouses married to transgender U.S. citizens still face deportation today due to current immigration policies. When forced to return to their home countries, transgender individuals are likely to encounter violence from those who perpetuate hate towards transgender and gender non-conforming individuals. Instead of protecting these individuals, the United States continues to send people back to their native countries solely because those individuals do not fall within the narrowly constructed definition of marriage some states use that is legally recognized by federal courts. The article argues that sexual minorities are entitled to equal rights under principles of human dignity, equality, and non-discrimination. While international human rights frameworks like the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and regional systems, particularly the European Union’s Charter of Fundamental Rights, provide some protections, sexual minorities remain vulnerable due to the lack of explicit inclusion in most treaties. The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) and the UN Human Rights Committee (HRC) have advanced protections through jurisprudence, but significant gaps persist, especially for transgender and intersex individuals. The article advocates for a specialized treaty to address these disparities …

The note examines the intersection of disability rights and reproductive rights, highlighting the legal confusion and human rights violations that arise from the lack of comprehensive federal guidance on the sterilization of individuals with disabilities. While landmark Supreme Court decisions like Griswold v. Connecticut and Roe v. Wade established constitutional protections for reproductive autonomy, the legacy of cases such as Buck v. Bell and inconsistent state statutes continue to undermine the rights of individuals with disabilities. The liberal-democratic governmental compact assures that citizenship, political power, and civic participation in all of its forms will be afforded to all citizens on an equal basis. In particular, simple identity—as a presumptive matter—cannot be the basis for the denial of human rights. It is on this simple yet elegant principle that all civil-rights laws are founded.

Cameroon, one of the countries in the world that continues to criminalize homosexuality, has been on the news recently due to the torture and murder of young journalist and gay activist, Eric Ohena. This paper examines the discrimination faced by the LGBTI community in Cameroon by exploring the origins of homophobic violence, the role played by Cameroon's legal system, and the struggles of LGBTI Cameroonians in their fight for a better life. While race, religion, ethnicity, and sex will always remain salient social issues in our nation, sexual orientation is currently at the forefront of our national debate and will likely not abate in the foreseeable future. Federal courts, for example, struggle in differentiating sex, gender, and sexuality when adjudicating Title VII employment discrimination claims. Because Title VII does not protect employees from sexual orientation-based discrimination, plaintiffs who are or are perceived to be of a sexual minority have difficulty proving a valid sex-based discrimination claim in federal court.
