In Detroit, Michigan, in 2014, 1 broken windows, a roof caving in, and a yard that had not been maintained for years is the view for its residents in a blighted and unstable neighborhood. Code enforcement inspectors are nowhereto be found. The local code enforcement department lacks the resources, manpower, and strategic plan to deal with blight on a massive scale

In response to requests from health care facilities, law enforcement agencies, and funeral service establishments, Senator Kenny Alexander (DNorfolk) convened a workgroup of stakeholders to rewrite the statutes dealing with unclaimed remains and next of kin. In addition to serving the General Assembly, Senator Alexander owns several prominent funeral service establishments and is a funeral service licensee. His experience proved invaluable to the process. The stakeholder meetings began in the fall of 2013 and culminated in the introduction of Senate Bill 304 in the 2014 Session of the Virginia General Assembly. This Comment is the first in a series of publications on Brazil's efforts and, we hope, its successes in reducing corruption in the 2016 Olympic Games. It is written as part of a course at the University of Richmond School of Law entitled "Brazil, Corruption, and the 2016 Summer Olympics"-the co-authors are eight students and their pro- fessor. While the ultimate product will be a comprehensive analysis of the role of Brazilian law in controlling corruption, this Comment has a more modest purpose. The Simple Truths Of Safety At Sea For Alaskan Tender Vessels: Feasible Regulatory Changes To Prevent Vessel Casualties In The 17th Coast Guard District Tender Fleet, Olivia Jacobs

Tender vessels in the United States will soon need to comply with new safety regulations as mandated by the Coast Guard Authorization Act of 2010. This thesis focuses specifically on assisting in the formation of an Alternative Safety Compliance Program (ASCP) for the unique tender vessel fleet and seeks to understand why tender vessels experience fatalities and vessel casualties. By analyzing data of tendermen fatalities and tender vessel casualties between 2000 and 2012, the report sheds light on the realities of these incidents. Among other findings, the data show that the most common cause of vessel casualty was striking rocks …

For the first time in seventeen years, voters did not select a single baseball player to be inducted into the 2013 Baseball Hall of Fame. In response to this news, Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt regrettably stated, "[E]veryone was guilty. Either you used Performance Enhancing Drugs or you did nothing to stop their use. . . . This generation got rich. Seems there was a price to pay." In 2013 alone, Major League Baseball (MLB) issued fourteen suspensions for Performance Enhancing Drug (PED) abuse. Richmond Public Interest Law Review

There has been a gradual national shift toward rehabilitation within the justice system. This has been especially important for veterans who make up only 8% of the total population, but account for 10% of those with criminal records. Recognizing that the traditional justice system is not equipped to handle cases of individuals whose underlying cause of offense is combat trauma, there has been a call to expand the Veterans Treatment Court ("VTC") program as an alternative for offenders who are veterans of the armed forces.
