The efforts to eliminate money laundering is much related to the issues of national jurisdiction. Thus, it requires international cooperation among countries, where international law is needed. Eventhough there is still no specific convention about money laundering, but regulation about money laundering is partially arranged in some conventions such as Vienna Convention 1988 and in UN Convention on Transnational Organized Crimes 2000. Eating Our Way To Their Extinction: What Florida Should Learn From California On Banning Shark Fin Soup And The Shark Fin Trade, Bettina Tran
Seattle Journal of Environmental Law
Currently, it is legal to possess, sell and purchase shark fins in 38 states, Florida included. Fishermen are allowed to harvest sharks all around the world with minimal surveillance and weak regulation, causing greed to push a 400-million-year old species to the brink of extinction. Florida’s current statue is completely ineffective and toothless when it comes to shark conservation. The State needs to amend its shark fin law prohibiting the trade in all detached shark fins, for any purpose, by anyone to discontinue fueling a cruel practice. There is a federal bill pending in congress that would ban the trade …

Inside The Blackwall Box: Explaining U.S. Marine Salvage Awards, Joshua C. Teitelbaum
Georgetown Law Faculty Publications and Other Works
Under U.S. maritime law, a salvor of imperiled maritime property on navigable waters is entitled to a monetary award from the owner. When the salvage service is rendered voluntarily in the absence of a contract, the court determines the salvage award according to six factors enumerated by the Supreme Court in The Blackwall, 77 U.S. 1 (1869). The law, however, does not specify a precise formula or rule for calculating awards on the basis of the Blackwall factors.
