The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), having recently celebrated its sixteenth birthday, no longer can claim to be a young agency. On October 27, 1972, Congress created the Commission to protect individuals from deaths and injuries caused by dangerous or defective consumer products. Yet the CPSC, as it approaches maturity, has failed to fulfill numerous purposes for which Congress established it.

An Economic Analysis Of Liability For Aids-Contaminated Blood Products, George Ferrell

The purpose of this Comment is to develop an economic analysis of possible blood products liability rules in order to determine what the effects of such rules are on blood users and providers. To the extent that current liability rules fail to promote an efficient allocation of risks and resources, this Comment will propose changes designed to correct such deficiencies.

Risk Communication Law And Implementation Issues In The United States And European Community, Michael S. Baram

Risk communication has become an important element of public policy in the United States and the European Community (E.C.) for reducing technological risks to workers, product users and community residents. The risk communication process involves disclosure by an industrial firm (or other party) of information about the hazardous attributes of its activity or product to a regulatory agency or to persons who may be at risk, thereby facilitating a shared understanding of the risk and enabling interpretation of various risk prevention and response measures.
