Although the Commercial Code of 1960 contemplates the promulgation of a special law governing industrial property rights, the Imperial Ethiopian Government has neither promulgated this law nor, with the exception of a draft trademark law, prepared the appropriate draft legislation. The lack of a comprehensive law has not been disastrous: until recently the number of trademarks and industrial inventions used or created in Ethiopia was very small. The recent decision of the Georgia Supreme Court in Georgia Investment Co. v. Norman has raised a number of interesting and difficult questions about the maintenance of class actions in the Georgia courts. The Norman decision could have serious ramifications for courts, lawyers and litigants in Georgia, and if its rationale should find acceptance in other jurisdictions the effects could be much broader in scope. The class action device can be an efficient and relatively inexpensive method for the adjudication of similar claims of a large number of persons in one proceeding. Memorable teachers, like great delicacies, are not to everybody's taste. Most of us endured nineteen years of formal education, encountering perhaps 100 teachers along the way. Many were journeymen, imparting whatever information their particular slice of the curriculum warranted. A few, a very few, truly moved our minds. And, not uncommonly, the genius who made me see left others in the dark, while my friend's cicerone left me hopelessly lost.
