ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THE SCHOOLYEAR OF 1951–52 SEPTEMBER 10 TO JUNE 1
The College of Law, an outgrowth of a course in law established at the University in 1869, is the oldest Catholic law school in the United States. In the reorganization of the University in 1905 the department of law was given the status of a college, and since then it has enjoyed a steady growth. The College is a member of the 'Association of American Law Schools, an organization of ninety–eight law schools, including the leading university schools of the country, and is rated as approved by the Council …

Natural Law Institute Proceedings
From the Introduction
The papers read at the 1950 Convocation of the Institute and reprinted in this volume were concerned with certain "rights" which we Americans call "fundamental:"

- the right to property
- the right to freedom of expression
- the right to pursue happiness
Does the Natural Law as the source of human rights offer a true and solid explanation of what men really mean when they call such rights "fundamental"? This was the central theme of the 1950 sessions.

The disparity of treatment is traceable to the unfortunate fact that, whereas actual sales or bona fide bid and asked prices govern the valuation for federal tax purposes of listed stocks and of unlisted stocks which "are dealt in through brokers or have a market," the criteria employed in valuing closely-held stock are predominantly subjective. This makes a paradise for "experts" but they seldom agree and few, if any, of their assumptions and conclusions are anything more …
