This study examines criminal reconciliation in economic crimes as an effective alternative to traditional criminal proceedings. It represents an exception to the general principle of criminal law, which typically mandates prosecution of offenders. The research is structured into three sections: the concept of criminal reconciliation, the procedures for reconciliation in economic crimes, and its broader impact on addressing such offenses. The introduction identifies the central problem: assessing whether laws adopting administrative criminal punishment adequately safeguard justice between the offender and the competent administrative authority. This article seeks to analyze the legal, market, and institutional features needed to become an international hub for debt restructuring. To that end, it examines the strategy adopted by Singapore as well as the market and institutional factors generally found in other leading legal and financial centers such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Hong Kong. It is argued that in jurisdictions that have traditionally had creditor-oriented insolvency systems, such as Singapore, the United Kingdom, and Hong Kong, one of the primary challenges when enhancing the restructuring framework for debtors is ensuring that the insolvency system remains protective …

Scoring Accuracy And Differential Rater Functioning Of Large Language Models (Llms) In Evaluating Short Student Essays Under Different Conditions: A Simulation Study, Majed Mahmoud Ajoudeh

This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy and differential rater functioning (DRF) of LLMs in scoring short essays, based on synthetically generated data of 270 essays with varying quality. The LLMs scored the essays under three prompting conditions: without a rubric, with a brief rubric, and with a detailed rubric. Human benchmark ratings were also generated in comparison with the automated scores. The results showed that using detailed rubric improved accuracy and consistency with human raters. Regression analysis further revealed differential rater functioning: the LLMs were more likely to award higher scores to longer essays, favored indirect writing styles, and …

This capstone project examines how integrating social work practices into the jail intake process can strengthen support for clients represented by the Public Defender’s Office. The project focuses on understanding the challenges clients face at the earliest point of contact often marked by trauma, instability, and limited access to services and how a social-work-informed approach can improve outcomes. Through direct observation, interviews with staff, and review of intake procedures, the project identifies key gaps in assessment, communication, and referrals. Responses to mental health crises are becoming an increasingly contentious topic as cases of extreme police violence or fatality during a crisis are publicized in the media. Although first responders’ experiences with mental health crisis response have been explored in prior literature, there remains a lack of research that gathers data from multiple first responder roles and compares their experiences across groups. Despite decades of effort, issues of race and color in organizations remain unresolved. Representative Bureaucracy (RB) has been a necessary but insufficient response to these challenges. While RB promotes diversity and inclusion, it struggles to address deeper issues of equity and justice, which are seen in the persistence of police brutality, even with increased representation of officers of color. This dissertation will propose a new theoretical approach to address the shortcomings of RB, a framework for the Identity Salience of Organizational Culture (ISOC). Creditworthiness, or the likelihood that one will repay one’s debts, is typically signaled through a three-digit number known as a credit score. Yet, over thirty-two million adult-aged consumers lack adequate consumer credit reports and therefore do not have a traditional credit score. As a result of being unscored, these consumers are generally presumed uncreditworthy and foreclosed from mainstream credit markets. Unscored consumers are often relegated to extractive, fringe credit markets that neither require nor build credit scores. More insidiously, however, a growing number of non-credit contexts, including rental housing, utility services, and employment markets, look to creditworthiness to determine eligibility …

Skrmetti, dans lequel la Cour suprême américaine juge que l’interdiction, par le Tennessee, des bloqueurs de puberté pour les mineurs trans ne viole pas la clause constitutionnelle d’égalité, dite clause « d’égale protection ». The Singapore Court of Appeal held a law prohibiting male–male sexual intercourse (s 377A of the Penal Code) unenforceable on non-rights-based grounds. The court's remarks about the rights to life and liberty (including whether sexual orientation is mutable), freedom of expression, and equality are obiter. But they are significant, since in Singapore, there are few constitutional rights cases and the courts focus on spelling out the limits to executive and legislative power without necessarily striking down exercises of such power on rights grounds. During the Covid-19 pandemic, a lack of pre-pandemic planning resulted in sub-optimal policy outcomes. Crucial lessons can be drawn from the experience of Singapore and Australia in the pandemic in implementing various tax and non-tax economic measures; lessons that can help in preparing for the next pandemic (“Disease X”). This article analyses and critically evaluates three main categories of economic measures: direct payments, tax measures and non-tax “other” measures. It finds that direct payment measures such as jobs support had a very significant impact on preserving jobs and supporting the economy. Social Media Participation And Scholarly Success In Law, Julian Nyarko, David E. Pozen

Using a novel dataset on Twitter activity as well as a novel corpus of law journal publications, this paper examines the impact of social media activity on the scholarly success of U.S. law professors. We find that joining Twitter increases citation counts by an average of 22% per year and improves article placements by up to 10 ranks for law professors, relative to a synthetic control group. These positive returns apply across nearly all classes of scholars and are magnified for those who post frequently about their own work. The present study aimed to assess the teaching performance of Islamic Studies female teachers in light of the principles of Cognitive Apprenticeship Theory, as viewed by school evaluators in Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia. It also sought to identify statistically significant differences in the participants' evaluations of teaching performance levels, attributed to the variables of educational stage, years of experience, and job grade. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach, employing an observation checklist as a tool for data collection from a random sample of 162 Islamic Studies teachers. This study investigates Ali ibn Abi Talib's (may Allah be pleased with him) perspective on the Companions, particularly the Muhajirun and Ansar, as presented in Nahj al-Balagha, aiming to clarify his relationship with them and address a central point of Sunni-Shi'a divergence. Employing inductive and analytical approaches, it scrutinizes narrations attributed to Ali. This study analyzes the strategic orientations of postgraduate educational programs at the University of Bisha and compares them with local and international universities to propose developmental mechanisms based on leading practices. The research employed a descriptive-analytical and comparative approach, using a questionnaire distributed to 244 faculty members as experts, along with content analysis of strategic plans, official documents, and university websites. Findings indicated that the University of Bisha's strategic orientations were rated highly, with a mean score of 4.41 and an agreement percentage of 88.28%. The current study aimed to examine the relationship between academic quality of life and self-regulation, as well as the relative contribution of self-regulation in predicting academic quality of life among a sample of graduate students at King Abdulaziz University. The study sample consisted of 400 students from the Faculty of Arts (150 male and 250 female students). To measure the research variables, the researcher used the Academic Quality of Life Scale developed by Okasha and Al-Zoghbi (2019) and the Self-Regulation Scale developed by Al-Tarabsheh and Al-Shuqran (2017). The study aimed to identify the level of challenges facing the implementation of the school-based empowerment educational supervisory model. The researcher employed the descriptive survey method, utilizing a questionnaire distributed to a random sample of supervisors, school principals, and teachers in Makkah region, totaling 421 participants. The questionnaire covered three main domains: administrative challenges, technical challenges, and societal challenges. This study investigates ChatGPT as a supplementary tool in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) education through surveys of 150 teachers and 350 learners in Asia, Europe and Latin America. Results show that ChatGPT improves language proficiency by providing personalized feedback, conversational fluency (72% of users reported improvement), writing scores by 22% and vocabulary through contextualized practice. Teachers found it useful for lesson planning and administrative tasks. However, challenges such as plagiarism risks (15% of cases), occasional inaccuracies and cultural insensitivities especially in idiomatic and formal language use require ethical guidelines and human oversight. This study aimed to examine kindergarten teachers' acceptance of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI)-supported Augmented Reality (AR) in active learning environments. Using a descriptive-analytical method, a questionnaire was designed to measure teachers' attitudes, readiness, and awareness of benefits and challenges. The tool was applied to a sample of 150 teachers from public and private kindergartens in Abha and Khamis Mushait during the academic year 1446 AH. Findings revealed a moderate-to-high level of acceptance, as most teachers recognized the effectiveness of AI and AR in motivating children, simplifying abstract concepts, and enhancing interaction. This study aimed to investigate the perceptions of design students at the College of Design and Applied Arts at Taif University of Saudi Arabia using an experimental art therapy program. The experimental user used pre- and post-tests on the creations of (30) students. A scale for students' perceptions of art therapy was administered before and after the study. There were statistically significant results and application trends across all scale axes (general knowledge, innovation and attitude, and perception of social benefits).
