The wettability of heterogeneous materials has been attracting special interest by academia and industrial sector given the need to development self-cleaning Nonwoven nanofiber mats have demonstrated potential given its hydrophobicity granted by the ultimate structure of the system, small fiber diameter and small pores giving rise to effects such as the Cassie-Baxter. Reducing drag in fluid flow has been one of the most widely studied topics in fluid dynamics due to the significant impact on improving operational efficiencies and cutting cost in applications from the aerospace, automotive and naval industries. The biggest challenge with magnesium alloy biodegradable implants is the rapid corrosion at the earlier stages of the healing process after implantation. In this research, the impact of surface roughness generated by different means on the corrosion rate of AZ31 magnesium alloy in a simulated biologic environment is investigated. In order to perform accurate experimentation, an in vitro setup is assembled that simulates the human body environment accurately has been prepared using Schinhammer’s in vitro immersion testing setup and Kokubo’s Simulated Body Fluid (SBF).
