Globally, a large proportion of a building's energy is consumed to achieve thermal comfort, as promoting energy efficiency and environmental sustainability of buildings is an important global goal. Therefore, the new building regulations are geared explicitly toward energy-saving projects. However, there are usually many competitive priorities, such as maximizing energy use in office buildings, leading to the complex multi-objective optimization topic. The main objective of this research was to reduce the energy consumed for cooling load in the office buildings in the city of Cairo, which is located in a hot desert climate. This was achieved by optimizing ten different …

Two-Stage Distributed Robust Optimal Dispatching For A Combined Heat And Power Virtual Power Plant, Yaqian Fan, Songyuan Yu, Fang Fang
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: Combined heat and power virtual power plant (CHP-VPP) aggregates various electrical and thermal output units and takes into account the uncertainty of wind and solar output, dynamic electricity prices, thermal comfort of users, and other influences to achieve optimal dispatching of overall output. A two-stage distributed robust optimal dispatching method is proposed. In the first stage, planned dispatching is considered, so as to maximize the benefit of CHP-VPP. In the second stage, a fuzzy set of wind and solar output uncertainties is constructed based on the distributed robust method of moment uncertainty, and …

The important objective of a building must be to provide a comfortable environment for people. Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems provide a comfortable environment, but they are using high energy consumption, therefore, designing an energy-efficient building that balances energy performance and thermal comfort is necessary. To achieve this subject is important to choose the effective parameters for energy performance. This research aim is to produce a methodology for multi-objective optimization of daylight and thermal comfort in order to study the effect of wall material and shading of an office building (Tehran a basic-location). The building simulation was developed …

One of the most important challenges facing the world is the application of modern technology in order to create smart buildings that achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs). Thermal comfort and reduction of energy consumption in buildings are considered important factors which, in turn, are reflected in creating a healthy environment and improving human productivity. Internet of Things (IoT) provides an ideal solution for collecting real-time data on the factors affecting indoor thermal comfort and energy consumption. However, comfort level is subjective and depends on many factors, which may not be learned by conventional models, an integrated model depending on thermal …
