The article presents the results of a study of the qualitative and quantitative analysis of metal ions in the bacterial oxidation of flotation concentrate in the liquid phase by mass spectroscopy. Changes in the concentration of metal ions (Na, Si, K, Ca, Fe, etc.) and ions of noble metals (gold, silver) in the process of bacterial oxidation of flotation concentrate were determined and changes in their concentration in the process were substantiated

Memristors are considered to be next-generation non-volatile memory devices owing to their fast switching and low power consumption. Metal oxide memristors have been extensively investigated and reported to be promising devices, although they still suffer from poor stability and laborious fabrication process. Herein, we report a stable and power-efficient memristor with novel heterogenous electrodes structure and facile fabrication based on CuO-Cu2O complex thin films. The proposed structure of the memristor contains an active complex layer of cupric oxide (CuO) and cuprous oxide (Cu2O) sandwiched between fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) and gold (Au) electrodes. The fabricated memristors demonstrate bipolar resistive switching …

Investigation Of Oxidized Carbon Supported Au Catalysts Synthesized Via Strong Electrostatic Adsorption Of Au(En)2Cl3 For The Hydrochlorination Of Acetylene To Vinyl Chloride Monomer, Sean Reginald Noble Jul 2020

Investigation Of Oxidized Carbon Supported Au Catalysts Synthesized Via Strong Electrostatic Adsorption Of Au(En)2Cl3 For The Hydrochlorination Of Acetylene To Vinyl Chloride Monomer, Sean Reginald Noble

Theses and Dissertations

Over 20 million tons of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) is produced every year using acetylene hydrochlorination using a supported mercuric chloride catalyst. During this process mercury is reduced and sublimes into the environment harming all living animals and humans, so carbon-supported Au catalysts have been developed in attempts to replace it. Various techniques have been used to make these catalysts including several variations of dry impregnation. In this study we investigate the ability of Strong Electrostatic Adsorption (SEA) of Au(en)2Cl3 onto various supports to demonstrate the ability to rationally and consistently synthesize gold catalysts with ultra-small particle …

Geophysical Study Of Gold Mineralized Zones In The Carolina Terrane Of South Carolina, Saad Saud Alarifi Apr 2020

Geophysical Study Of Gold Mineralized Zones In The Carolina Terrane Of South Carolina, Saad Saud Alarifi

Theses and Dissertations

T

he goal of this study was to calibrate and test geophysical methods for the detection of geological structural and disseminated sulfides in the area of the four largest gold deposits in the Southern Appalachian of South Carolina. The Coastal plain sediments, vegetation and saprolite covering the mining areas remain the most challenging in this region. The work focused on the calibration of high-resolution gravity, and helicopter electromagnetic (EM) and magnetic data provided by OceanaGold over the Haile and Brewer Mines; then calibrating the regional gravity and aeromagnetic data over the four gold mines in South Carolina. Observed geophysical fields …

Microwave Treatment Of A Refractory Gold Concentrate, K. Sanakulov, Omon Fuzaylov, J.A. Kenbaeva Mar 2020

Microwave Treatment Of A Refractory Gold Concentrate, K. Sanakulov, Omon Fuzaylov, J.A. Kenbaeva

Gorniy vestnik Uzbekistana

The article presents the results of microwave processing of gold-containing sulfidic carbonaceous flotation concentrate, with the aim to oxidize sulfide minerals and organic carbon, in which gold is associated. The flotation concentrate was processed in a microwave oven with an output power of 700 W, so that after every 2 minutes of treatment the magnetron was turned off, the sample was mixed, then turned on. The degree of removal of sulfide sulfur was 96%. Organic carbon is removed by 76.7%. The IR spectra of the initial flotation concentrate and microwave treatment product are given, as well as the results of …

Wavelength Sensitivity Of Indium Tin Oxide On Surface Plasmon Resonance Angles, Antonio Ruiz, Carlos Villa Angulo, Ivan Olaf Hernandez-Fuentes Jan 2020

Wavelength Sensitivity Of Indium Tin Oxide On Surface Plasmon Resonance Angles, Antonio Ruiz, Carlos Villa Angulo, Ivan Olaf Hernandez-Fuentes

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) is a charge-density oscillation that occurs when a beam of p-polarized monochromatic light impinges with a greater angle than the critical angle in a dielectric-metal interface. Because of the high losses related to metals, the generated surface plasmon waves propagate with high attenuation in the visible and near-infrared spectral regions in most of the dielectric-metal interfaces. An alternative to reduce such losses is to use a transparent indium tin oxide (ITO) film. In this paper, we compared theoretical calculations and experimental measurements of the SPR angle $\theta_{SPR}$ on the interfaces of a borosilicate prism (Bp) and …

Copper And Gold In Vapors And Liquids As A Function Of Hcl At 700°C And 100 Mpa, Corrie A. Lucchesi Jan 2020

Copper And Gold In Vapors And Liquids As A Function Of Hcl At 700°C And 100 Mpa, Corrie A. Lucchesi

Graduate Research Theses & Dissertations

Porphyry ore deposits are major sources of copper (Cu) and gold (Au) and form when a magmatic volatile phase (MVP) exsolves from a porphyritic intermediate to felsic melt and transports metals to surrounding country rock where they precipitate in an ore zone. There is a consensus that the chloride concentration of the MVP has a direct relationship to the concentration of Cu and Au in the MVP, but the role of dissolved HCl on Cu and Au concentrations has not been addressed. It is hypothesized that increasing HCl concentrations in the MVP will result in higher concentrations of Cu and …

Dealloyed Porous Gold Anchored By: In Situ Generated Graphene Sheets As High Activity Catalyst For Methanol Electro-Oxidation Reaction, Hui Xu, Shuai Liu, Xiaoliang Pu, Kechang Shen, Laichang Zhang, Xiaoguang Wang, Jingyu Qin, Weimin Wang

Research outputs 2014 to 2021

A novel one-step method to prepare the nanocomposites of reduced graphene oxide (RGO)/nanoporous gold (NPG) is realized by chemically dealloying an Al2Au precursor. The RGO nanosheets anchored on the surface of NPG have a cicada wing like shape and act as both conductive agent and buffer layer to improve the catalytic ability of NPG for methanol electro-oxidation reaction (MOR). This improvement can also be ascribed to the microstructure change of NPG in dealloying with RGO. This work inspires a facile and economic method to prepare the NPG based catalyst for MOR.
