Study Of Nano Structure Mn/Alumina Catalyst Deactivation Through Catalytic Oxidation Of O-Vocs, Hosein Afshary

the deactivation and selectivity behavior of nanostructure Mn/γ-Al2O3 catalyst in catalytic oxidation of an O-VOC (isopropanol) was studied. The polluted air was simulated and the catalyst was tested in the course of 50-h time-on-stream. Characterization of fresh and used catalysts was done using FT-IR, XRD, SEM and EDS methods. Comparing the testing results of this catalyst and that of the industrial Pt/Al2O3 catalyst showed that prepared catalyst can be suitable for substitution with the expensive pt/Al2O3 catalyst in environmental applications.

Rice husk which is an agricultural waste, constitutes about one-fifth of the 500 million tonnes of rice produced annually worldwide. Normally, the residue is disposed off by burning at the mill sites and the resultant rice husk ash (RHA) is dumped on a waste land. This generates environmental, pollution and land dereliction problems. Under controlled burning and if sufficiently ground, the highly reactive ash that is produced can be used as a supplementary cementing material or in the production of high strength concrete (HSC). Agriculture, through wind erosion, tillage and harvest operations, burning, diesel-powered machinery and animal production operations, is a source of particulate matter emissions. Agricultural sources vary both temporally and spatially due to daily and seasonal activities and inhomogeneous area sources. Conventional point sampling methods originally designed for regional, well mixed aerosols are challenged by the disrupted wind flow and by the small mobile source of the emission encountered in this study. Atmospheric lidar (LIght Detection And Ranging) technology provides a means to derive quantitative information of particulate spatial and temporal distribution. In the paper, an assessment of the compliance with air emission limit values and the impact on air quality of one of the largest medical waste incinerators in Poland, with a total capacity of about 300 kg/h (two incineration lines) is presented. The assessment took the results of continuous and periodic measurements of emissions in the plant’s installation over a period of 12 months’ operation into account. For this period, a calculation was performed for the spread of air pollutants emitted by the two operating incineration lines.
