Corrosion Of Coated And Uncoated Steel Reinforcement In Concrete, Jana Abou Shakra, Rouba Joumblat, Jamal Khatib, Adel Elkordi

BAU Journal - Science and Technology

Corrosion of reinforcing steel is the one of the main causes of deterioration in reinforced concrete structure. During the initial stage of corrosion, the steel volume increases. This creates tensile stresses in the concrete, which can eventually lead to cracking, delamination, and spalling. This potential risk of corrosion in a structure is quite unpredictable. Therefore, this paper examines the influence of accelerated corrosion on the bond between concrete and the coated and uncoated steel bars. The bar coating consisted of epoxy rich in zinc. Six concrete mixes were prepared. Three mixes had cement contents of 300, 400 and 500 Kg/m3 …

Electrochemical Response Of A Single Wire-Electrode Ac Probe In 3.5wt.% Nacl, Zhen-Wen Zou, Da-Jiang Zheng, Zi-Ming Wang, Guang-Ling Song Jun 2020

Electrochemical Response Of A Single Wire-Electrode Ac Probe In 3.5wt.% Nacl, Zhen-Wen Zou, Da-Jiang Zheng, Zi-Ming Wang, Guang-Ling Song

Journal of Electrochemistry

In this paper, a recently developed single wire-electrode AC probe technology which does not need a reference or counter electrode was employed to investigate the electrochemical corrosion and sacrificial anode protection behaviors of steel and zinc in 3.5wt.% NaCl. With this simple, fast, reliable and stable probe, the instantaneous corrosion rate and accumulated corrosion loss of carbon steel in 3.5wt.% NaCl were measured, and the results revealed that both were greater than those of zinc. Furthermore, the observed different corrosion behaviors between carbon steel and zinc during the immersion could be caused by their different surface films. With the galvanic …

Effect Of Acidification On The Microstructure And Physical Properties Of Shale, Chen Liuyu, Li Xijian, Shen Zhonghui, Xu Shiqing, Ma Shengxiang, Yin Xin Jun 2020

Effect Of Acidification On The Microstructure And Physical Properties Of Shale, Chen Liuyu, Li Xijian, Shen Zhonghui, Xu Shiqing, Ma Shengxiang, Yin Xin

Coal Geology & Exploration

As the main shale gas reservoir in Guizhou, it is proved that Longmaxi Formation has good shale gas accumulation conditions and resource development potential. In order to reveal the response law of acidification on the micropore structure and physical properties of Longmaxi Formation shale in Guizhou, the difference in physical properties of shale microstructures before and after acidification, such as pore volume, porosity, specific surface area and pore size distribution was quantitatively characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis, mercury intrusion measurement, low-temperature nitrogen adsorption and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) experiment. The structural characteristics of the shale pores before and after acidification were …

Research Of The Possibility Of Using Waste Of Paint And Varnish Materials For Anti-Corrosion Protection Of Metal Parts Of Transport Equipment, Aida Barxanadjyan, Ravshan Hakimov, Botir Ibragimov May 2020

Research Of The Possibility Of Using Waste Of Paint And Varnish Materials For Anti-Corrosion Protection Of Metal Parts Of Transport Equipment, Aida Barxanadjyan, Ravshan Hakimov, Botir Ibragimov

Journal of Tashkent Institute of Railway Engineers

This work is devoted to the corrosion protection of metal parts of transport equipment. The purpose of this study is the use of waste paint and varnish materials (PVM) to obtain anti-corrosion coatings of metal parts. PVMwaste is the loss of paints obtained when painting automobiles. The epoxy polyurethane oligomer synthesized by us was used as a binder resin. During the research, the physicochemical properties of the waste were studied the components were selected to obtain anticorrosive mastic. The resulting mastic was tested in laboratory conditions in accordance with the standards for adhesion, chemical resistance, film strength in bending and …
