The Capacity Of Chennai International Airport: A Study, K P Sooraj Dec 2019

The Capacity Of Chennai International Airport: A Study, K P Sooraj

Manipal Journal of Science and Technology

This paper discusses a case study of the capacity of the Chennai International Airport. The capacity of an airport is an important determinant for implementation of Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM), departure/arrival slot allocation, etc. and is a key input while estimating when the airport will saturate, in order to plan additional infrastructure, at places where catchment area population is not the limiting factor. The simulation model layout of the airport was considered for the study. Total airport delay such as gate delay, TWY delay, seq. delay, RWY delay, posing delay, and total delay for the base model and capacity …

Performance Assessment Of Basic And Hybrid Photovoltaic Array Configurations Under Partially Shaded Conditions, M Nandakumar Dec 2019

Performance Assessment Of Basic And Hybrid Photovoltaic Array Configurations Under Partially Shaded Conditions, M Nandakumar

Manipal Journal of Science and Technology

Photovoltaic (PV) production systems are facing various issues during the partial shading conditions (PSCs). This can in turn affect the maximum production of power and the proficiency or capability of the system. By reducing the imbalance in power losses during considered partial shading conditions, the primary centre of attention of this research work is to model and replicate various PV array configurations as a way to extricate the maximum power production, and to analyze the output characteristics and to examine and compare the competence efficiency of PV array configurations under the same. In this work performance of basic PV, array …

Counting The Number Of Possible Fuzzy Controllers, Ambalal Vinayak Patel Dec 2019

Counting The Number Of Possible Fuzzy Controllers, Ambalal Vinayak Patel

Manipal Journal of Science and Technology

Fuzzy logic is prominent among all types of logics due to the inherent ability to express human intelligence qualitatively. Thus, it is being used in a variety of applications to design embedded intelligent systems. Although it originated to model the complex and ill-defined systems, it eventually also resulted in utilization for designing the intelligent controllers. While designing the fuzzy logic controllers (FLC), we came across a major challenge of selecting the various elements thereof. The flexibility in selecting the combinations of elements leads to arrive at a number of FLCs. Therefore, the challenge came across in selecting the suitable set …

Efficient The Optimal Sitting And Sizing Of Photovoltaic Generation With Load Growth Regards, M Ponnavaikko Dec 2019

Efficient The Optimal Sitting And Sizing Of Photovoltaic Generation With Load Growth Regards, M Ponnavaikko

Manipal Journal of Science and Technology

Nowadays distributed generations are connected to the distribution network. The proper installation of DG improves the technical and economic impact of the system. The optimal siting and sizing improves system reliability and improves the capacity of the system. This paper discusses the optimum location and calculation of PV with load growth in the 400V and the 11kV feeders were studied. The load growth is made at the feeder up to the actual losses in the system. The test is conducted at each percentage of the load growth.

Constrained Optimization Of Mars Entry Phase Trajectory Using The Modified Predictor-Corrector Method, Siri L Dec 2019

Constrained Optimization Of Mars Entry Phase Trajectory Using The Modified Predictor-Corrector Method, Siri L

Manipal Journal of Science and Technology

In this paper, a modified predictor-corrector method is explored to get a constrained optimal trajectory for Mars entry phase. The method uses a parameterized bank angle equation, which is given in terms of specific energy and hence enabling a three-dimensional trajectory optimization. The reference trajectory needed for computation of bank angle in each guidance cycle is obtained using the steepest descent method. Variation in bank angle is restricted. Typical entry path constraints, heat rate, dynamic pressure, and load factor were successfully imposed while minimizing the terminal position and velocity errors.

Charging Infrastructure Of Electric Vehicle - An Overview, Vi George Dr. Dec 2019

Charging Infrastructure Of Electric Vehicle - An Overview, Vi George Dr.

Manipal Journal of Science and Technology

Since fuels like petrol, coal, and diesel are non-renewable sources of energy, there will be a deficiency of fuels in the future because of the increasing demand for mobility. The latest vehicles for the gasoline and petrol engine technology yield substantial greenhouse gas emissions and therefore create environmental issues. Electric vehicles will give a solution to this problem. Plug-in electric vehicles are implemented, to achieve environment-friendly transport and reduce greenhouse gases. Apart from the advantages, defects such as wear and tear of devices, electric spark, and carbon deposition make electric vehicle’s wired charging less efficient. To make power transfer more …

Effect Of Land Use And Land Cover Change On Manipal Lake Using Remotely Sensed Data And Study Of The Features Of The Terrain, K Balakrishna Jun 2019

Effect Of Land Use And Land Cover Change On Manipal Lake Using Remotely Sensed Data And Study Of The Features Of The Terrain, K Balakrishna

Manipal Journal of Science and Technology

Human civilization has been colonizing land areas with an ample amount of water supply, good living conditions, accessibility, etc. since historical times. The proliferation of human activities since the industrial revolution has led to rapid urbanization and shrinkage of water bodies surrounding the cities. This is because of the siltation and blockade of major and minor recharge structures. One of the ways to assess the impact of colonization on the landscape is by using remotely sensed data. Manipal town in Udupi, Karnataka, India is one such landscape and Manipal lake is a reservoir present in Manipal affected by this. This …

Analysis Of Power Losses Of Different Buck Converters For Led Application, Srividya R Jun 2019

Analysis Of Power Losses Of Different Buck Converters For Led Application, Srividya R

Manipal Journal of Science and Technology

A buck converter efficiently step-downs the voltage level. Financial power transformation expands the robustness of battery, loss of heat energy is lowered and aides in building smaller devices. This can be used in household and industrial areas. The activity of numerous converters relies upon the switching properties of the power elements. Many buck converters utilize the second MOSFET instead of a diode. When the diode turns ON in buck converter, losses occur in the diode, which are called conduction losses, which keep increasing when the ON time of diode increases. Hence, the efficiency of the converter decreases due to these …

Transition Practices In Hrm Functions: A Review, R Krishnaveni Jun 2019

Transition Practices In Hrm Functions: A Review, R Krishnaveni

Manipal Journal of Science and Technology

Crossing a decade of the 21st century, the paradigm of Human Resources is seen evolving with the strategic gene induced into it. There seems to be a radical shift descending as the corporate sector calls on its HR team to become strategic rather than administrative. This transferal eventually requires the metrics employed by these HR teams not to be just operationally reactive but to be aligned to evidence-based strategic thinking. On realizing the trend for a prescriptive metric model for effective HR analytics, this study has designed a conceptual framework for a basic metric model that assists IT-HRM professionals in …

Design And Development Of Wireless Power Transmission, Harvindren Rajan

Manipal Journal of Science and Technology

In the era of technology, there is a constant increase in the demand for wireless technology which is environment-friendly. To use the wired network, lots of cables and ports are required to transfer the power. The users also feel that the wired network is messier and untidier. It is also not convenient for public use. Moreover, charging cables of the mobile phone usually will be fragile and breakable at some time due to the careless and poor handling by the users, wired network causes inconvenience to the users. In this project, the main objectives are to design and implement a …
