Antique Aircraft Avionics Modernization: Process And System Design For A Transponder Installation In A 1946 Luscombe 8a, Nicholas Camacho

Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering

The general aviation population is full of vintage aircraft. Built in the heyday of personal aviation, these machines embody the spirit of aviation; freedom afforded from the everyday monotony of earthbound people. As technology advanced and air traffic became more congested, new requirements were set forth by governing bodies to ensure the safety of aircraft. These regulations limited the capability of vintage general aviation aircraft. This report was commenced to understand the necessary steps required to add modern technology to old aircraft, as well as design a system that would enhance the capability of vintage aircraft while keeping their antique …

Optimization Of Screw Cap Process For E & J Gallo Winery, Robert Trent Latimer

Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering

This project takes a microscopic look at all raw material, machinery, and practices that effect the screw cap process of wine products in order to highlight and eliminate the causes of defects. The approach for this project involves the analysis of process capability for raw material to achieve its required dimensions. This project also displays methods of attaining appropriate machinery settings, and provides a basis for operating standards. Many quality engineering applications are used throughout this study, revealing the decision process for analyzing said applications.

The studies in this project found uncontrolled dimensions in the suppliers’ caps and bottles and …

Process Design For Aeration Of Facial Prosthetic, Nathaniel J. Urciuoli

Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering

Facial prosthetics are becoming a necessary step for the recovery of injured veterans and civilians who have suffered severe facial burning. Current users of such prosthetics are not able to wear the prosthetic for an extended period of time due to uncomfortable conditions created by the silicone material. A solution for this problem was to develop a process for creating small holes similar to skin pores that will both ventilate and aid in the evaporation of accumulated sweat under the prosthetic.

The main steps of this process were to create a flexible fixture capable of supporting and securing the prosthetic …
