Automated Software Size Measurement Using Multilingual Domain-Adapted Language Models, Samet Tenekeci̇, Hüseyi̇n Ünlü, Burak Keçeci̇, Muhammed Efe İnci̇r, Onur Demi̇rörs

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Software Size Measurement (SSM) is crucial for estimating required project effort as well as budget and schedule. However, many small and medium-sized companies struggle to apply objective SSM due to limited resources and lack of expertise. This often leads to inaccurate estimates and project overruns. There is a need for practical, low-resource solutions that support these tasks without requiring expert involvement. Motivated by this challenge, this study proposes an automated software size measurement approach that formulates the measurement task as supervised regression over natural language requirements, using domain-adapted transformer models. We construct large-scale Turkish and English software engineering corpora to …

H-Plane Siw Horn Antenna With Enhanced Front-To-Back Ratio For 5g Applications, Özlem Akgün, Nurhan Türker Tokan

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Millimeter-wave (mmWave) antennas are indispensable components in the fifth-generation (5G) wireless communication systems. With the inherent advantages of integration capability, substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) antenna is an excellent choice for applications in the mmWave frequency bands. However, reflection losses occur at dielectric-filled thin apertures of SIW antennas. These reflections can be overcome by impedance matching between the aperture and the free space. In this study, we introduce an mmWave SIW horn antenna having impedance matching transitions (IMTs) across the horn's aperture width. The designed antenna, operating in the 24-28 GHz band, is simulated with a full-wave analysis tool. The simulation …

An Integrated Optimal Method For Cloud Service Ranking, Mohammad Hossein Nejat, Homayun Motameni, Hamed Vahdat-Nejad

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Many cloud providers present various services with different attributes. It is a complex, lengthy process to select a cloud service that meets user requirements from an assortment of services. At the same time, user requirements are sometimes defined with imprecision (sets or intervals), whereas it is also important to consider the quality of user feedback (QoU) and quality of service (QoS) attributes for ranking. Besides, each MADM method has a di erent procedure, which causes functional contradictions. These contradictions have led to confusion in choosing the best MADM method. It is necessary to provide a method that harmonizes the results. …

In medium voltage cables, partial discharges (PD?s) are the major problems that trigger electrical insulation failures. Therefore, classification of PD source type and failure localization in medium voltage cables are significant issues of medium voltage engineering. Therefore, in this study, both detection and localization of PD are studied. As a first step, 4 different kind of defects are artificially generated at the same length of the same kind of medium voltage cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cables. Consequently, an experimental setup is built. During the experiments, different medium voltage levels are applied to the cables, then the PD signals are measured and …

Mutant Selection By Using Fourier Expansion, Savaş Takan, Tolga Ayav Jan 2020

Mutant Selection By Using Fourier Expansion, Savaş Takan, Tolga Ayav

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Mutation analysis is a widely used technique to evaluate the effectiveness of test cases in both hardware and software testing. The original model is mutated systematically under certain fault assumptions and test cases are checked against the mutants created to see whether the test cases can detect the faults or not. Mutation analysis is usually a computationally intensive task, particularly in finite state machine (FSM) testing due to a possibly huge amount of mutants. Random selection could be a practical reduction method under the assumption that each mutant is identical in terms of the probability of occurrence of its associating …

Improving The Redundancy Of Knuth?S Balancing Scheme For Packet Transmissionsystems, Elie Ngomseu Mambou, Ebenezer Esenogho, Hendrik Ferreira

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

A simple scheme was proposed by Knuth to generate binary balanced code words from any information word. However, this method is limited in the sense that its redundancy is twice that of the full sets of balanced codes. The gap between Knuth?s algorithm?s redundancy and that of the full sets of balanced codes is significantly considerable. This paper attempts to reduce that gap. Furthermore, many constructions assume that a full balancing can be performed without showing the steps. A full balancing refers to the overall balancing of the encoded information together with the prefix. We propose an efficient way to …
