Side Lobe Level Reduction And Array Thinning Of Concentric Circular Antenna Arrays, Alzahraa H. Nosier, Ahmed M. Elkhawaga, Mohamed E. Nasr, Nessim M. Mahmoud, Amr H. Hussein

Mansoura Engineering Journal

This paper presents a new beamforming technique based on the hybrid combination of the convolution algorithm (CA) and the genetic algorithm (GA) for reducing side lobe level (SLL) and array thinning of concentric circular antenna arrays (CCAA), which is denoted as C/GA technique. The CA determines the excitations of the elements, while the GA optimizes the radii of the circular arrays to adjust the half-power beamwidth (HPBW). For CCAA consisting of uniform feeding circular arrays, we assume that there are excitation coefficients that are distributed symmetrically around the array center and arranged in a vector. The excitation vector is convolved …

Zinc And Bismuth Additives' Impacts On The Physical Properties Of Lead-Free Alloys Used In Electronic Appliances, Hesham Elzanaty, Rizk Mostafa Shalaby

Mansoura Engineering Journal

The goal of the current analysis was to analytically inspect how the addition of zinc and bismuth would alter the binary structure of the lead-free solder Sn-5Sb. Binary arrangement results have been stretched to the ternary arrangements Sn–5Sb–XBi or XZn (0 ≤ X ≤ 4wt.%) solder that were composed through rapid solidification processing (RSP) using the melt–spun method. The created phases were revealed through metallographic study of the formed alloys using XRD. High elastic modulus E = 32.5 GPa and good electrical resistivity = 26x10-8 .m are two characteristics of binary Sn-Sb doped with Bi. The alloy Sn–5Sb–4Zn owns the …

Mansoura Engineering Journal

Circular concrete-filled steel tubular (CCFST) columns are widely utilized in structural engineering due to their impressive load-bearing capabilities and ductility. Existing design standards often yield disparate outcomes when applied to structural columns with identical properties, introducing uncertainty for engineering designers. This study introduces an innovative technique to address these challenges using two machine learning (ML) models: Gaussian process regression (GPR) and extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost). These models consider various input variables, including the geometric and material properties of CCFST columns, to estimate the compressive strength. The models undergo training and evaluation using two datasets comprising 1004 axially loaded CCFST columns …

Machine Learning-Based Prediction Of International Roughness Index For Continuous Reinforced Concrete Pavements, Ragaa T. Abd El-Hakim, Ahmed N. Awaad, Sherif M. El-Badawy

Mansoura Engineering Journal

The International Roughness Index (IRI) serves as a crucial indicator for ride quality and user comfort. As road roughness escalates, road serviceability diminishes, resulting in reduced vehicle speed and increased travel time, and consequently higher carbon dioxide emissions. Predicting the IRI is of utmost importance for Pavement Management Systems and sustainable development overall. While numerous studies have forecasted the IRI of flexible pavements, there is a notable scarcity of research focusing on rigid pavement performance prediction. This study addresses the gap in predicting IRI for Continuous Reinforced Concrete Pavements (CRCP), an understudied aspect of pavement engineering. Leveraging the Long-Term Pavement …

A Novel Method For The Production Of Pig Iron In “Hadisolb” Company (Industrial-Scale Experiments), El-Sayed A. Rassoul

Mansoura Engineering Journal

The chairman of “Hadisolb” had submitted a memorandum in 1977 in which he claimed that the company will never achieve its designed capacity unless it gets rid of the threatening impurities -high alkalis & MnO- in the blast furnace burden. Meanwhile, the DR steel companies are suffering from the generated accumulated wastes which contain > 67% Fe, zero% alkalis and traces of MnO. The novel idea here is finding the best ratio between El-Gedida ore and the waste material (W.M.). In a previous investigation a series of pilot-scale sintering experiments were performed and it was concluded that the blend containing 70% …

Mansoura Engineering Journal

The challenge of managing water resources is intensifying due to rapid urbanization, population expansion, and the growth of industry and agriculture. Furthermore, the looming threat of climate change significantly impacts both water resources and crop yields. In Kuwait, the majority of its potable water supply is dependent on seawater desalination. Specifically, multistage flash (MSF) desalination accounts for nearly 90% of the country's total desalination capacity, while the remaining 10% is generated using multi-effect distillation (MED) technology. Nevertheless, the environmental repercussions of desalination on Kuwait's ecosystem remain a subject of profound concern. This study employs a comprehensive approach, utilizing peer-reviewed journal …

Glaucoma Diagnosis Using Hybrid Neural Encoder Decoder Based Unet Hybrid Inception, Akanksha Bali, Vibhakar Mansotra

Mansoura Engineering Journal

The anatomy of the retinal fundus picture, which includes the optic disc, affects how glaucoma characteristics are extracted. One of the main causes of blindness in the globe is glaucoma. Correct glaucoma screening in its early phases is difficult since the condition only becomes apparent when its symptoms are severe. If glaucoma is not treated, the optic nerve head (ONH) will be harmed, resulting in vision loss. Nevertheless, there are currently not enough eye experts accessible, and eye screening is personal, time-consuming and labor-intensive. Therefore, this is a real issue that can be addressed by automatically diagnosing glaucoma using deep …

Application Of The Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming Technique For The Economic Planning Of Transmission Networks In New Manner, Nader Shawky Abdelhakeem, Maged Gamal Lotfy, Mohamed Shibl Albags, Ahmed Saied Elzawawy

Mansoura Engineering Journal

In the recent years, the mathematical planning model of transmission networks based on full AC load flow has been developed. But, due to the model non-convexity and the existing of large number of local solutions, this model can only be used for small size networks as it consumes large unreasonable computation time in addition to its incapability to yield global solution in most cases. To overcome these problems, two new iterative solution procedures have been presented in this paper. In the first one, the objective function is changed to the minimization of the number of new lines required to satisfy …
