Perception Of Crisis Management, Service Quality, And Loyalty Programs On Airline Travel Intention: What Roles Do Fear Of Covid-19 And Risk Attitude Play?, Sohel M. Imroz, Tamilla Curtis, Scott C. Ambrose

Publications

This research investigates the antecedents of airline travel intention, including the effects of crisis management, service quality perceptions, and loyalty programs, along with the fear of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and risk attitude among individuals from different parts of the world during the peak of the pandemic. Its main objective is to assess how these variables impact passenger airline travel intention. Partial least squares structural equation modeling was used to assess the measurement model and test the hypothesized relationships on the sample of 944 travelers. Results indicated strong positive associations between fear of COVID-19, risk-averse attitudes, and service quality with respect …

Predicting The Impact Of Covid-19 On Air Transportation Volumes, Dothang Truong Jun 2022

Predicting The Impact Of Covid-19 On Air Transportation Volumes, Dothang Truong

Publications

COVID-19 has significant impacts on air transportation. This paper aims to predict domestic and international transportation volumes during the pandemic. Daily trips by distance are novel variables in the prediction. Additionally, COVID-19 severity, vaccination, and economic index are other predictors. Artificial Neural Networks and Monte Carlo simulations were used to develop and validate the predictive models using data from various sources in 2021. The findings confirm the importance of daily trips by distance and vaccination as significant predictors. Airlines can use the models to predict air transportation volumes and formulate appropriate strategies to meet the air travel demand and improve …

Air Navigation And Covid-19: Atm Efficiency In Pandemic Crisis, Fabio Lourenco Carneiro Barbosa May 2021

Air Navigation And Covid-19: Atm Efficiency In Pandemic Crisis, Fabio Lourenco Carneiro Barbosa

Graduate Student Works

The coronavirus crisis effects on aviation in 2020 are currently well-documented. Nonetheless, the widely registered low traffic due to the crisis does not necessarily lead to increased air navigation efficiency. Thus, the present work, developed to fulfill the program outcomes for the Master of Science in Aeronautics, Air Traffic Management (ATM) specialization, aimed to investigate what was the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on air navigation efficiency in Brazil. This research question was addressed through a quantitative, nonexperimental, observational approach with two parallel branches, designed to answer two sub-questions. For the first, regarding what was the impact of the crisis …

Impact Of Covid-19 On Airline Industry And Strategic Plan For Its Recovery With Special Reference To Data Analytics Technology, Rajee Olaganathan Apr 2021

Impact Of Covid-19 On Airline Industry And Strategic Plan For Its Recovery With Special Reference To Data Analytics Technology, Rajee Olaganathan

Publications

This paper discusses the status quo of the airline industry around the world facing the COVID-19 pandemic situation. The purpose of the first part of this study was to assess the impact of COVID-19 on global air traffic, airline revenues by region of operation, number of international passengers by region, and the number of domestic passenger traffic by route group. The data for this study was collected from January 2019 to December 2020 from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) database. The research strategy of the second part of this study is based on PEST analysis which is applied to …

Covid 19 Impact On Aircraft Ground Time At Congonhas Airport (Cgh), Fabio Pereira Teixeira, Felipe Massao Higa, Ricardo Matsumoto Jakabi, Rodrigo Moreira Riberiro Nov 2020

Covid 19 Impact On Aircraft Ground Time At Congonhas Airport (Cgh), Fabio Pereira Teixeira, Felipe Massao Higa, Ricardo Matsumoto Jakabi, Rodrigo Moreira Riberiro

Graduate Student Works

This project aims to research and analyze the impact of the increase of ground time at Congonhas Airport caused by the new safety procedures in aviation to avoid the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Aviation is a highly regulated industry, with the high cost and tiny margins. It focuses on optimizing one of the most expensive assets, the aircraft. To keep aircraft flying is one of the airline's primary goals as aircraft on the ground means no revenue generation and cost increase.

Congonhas Airport is one of the busiest airports in Brazil and already operated on its limited capacity before …

Face Mask Effects Of Co2, Heart Rate, Respiration Rate, And Oxygen Saturation On Instructor Pilots, Andrew R. Dattel, Nicola M. O'Toole, Guillermina Lopez, Kenneth P. Byrnes Jul 2020

Face Mask Effects Of Co2, Heart Rate, Respiration Rate, And Oxygen Saturation On Instructor Pilots, Andrew R. Dattel, Nicola M. O'Toole, Guillermina Lopez, Kenneth P. Byrnes

Publications

The COVID-19 pandemic has required people to take new measures to mitigate the spread of the communicable virus. Guidelines from health organizations, government offices, and universities have been disseminated. Adherence to these guidelines cannot be more critical for flight training. This study explored the effects face masks had on CO2, heart rate, respiration rate, and oxygen saturation while wearing a face mask at an oxygen level simulated to 5,000 feet. Thirty-two instructor pilots (IP) volunteered to participate in the study. IPs spent 90 minutes in a normobaric chamber while wearing a cloth face mask or a paper face mask. Participants …
