Progress In Solar Photocatalytic Hydrogen Production, Zhi Wu, Lan Sun, Chang-Jian Lin

Journal of Electrochemistry

With the rapid development of human society and dramatically consumption of traditional energy, energy shortage and environmental pollution have become an important factor restricting the sustainable development of human society. At present, the development of clean and environmentally friendly renewable energy system has drawn much attention and becomes an important priority stratagem in the world. In many green and sustainable new energy projects, semiconductor-based photocatalytic hydrogen production technology which utilizes the available clean and renewable solar energy to prepare clean hydrogen energy is excepted to solve the crisis of energy shortage and environmental pollution, has become one of the most …

Construction Of Bismuth Oxyhallide-Based Heterojunction-Structured Composite And Its Environmental Application For Water Treatment, Li Wang Aug 2019

Construction Of Bismuth Oxyhallide-Based Heterojunction-Structured Composite And Its Environmental Application For Water Treatment, Li Wang

Theses and Dissertations

With the rapid development of the global economy, environmental protection and sustainable development have become the main trends of current society. In particular, water pollution and energy shortage are outstanding issues that need to be solved in a clean and sustainable way. Recently, semiconductor-based photocatalytic technology, an environmentally friendly technique, has attracted enormous attention and become an emerging research hotspot in the application of water/wastewater treatment and generation of renewable energy as it can convert infinite solar energy into chemical energy. Conventional semiconductor materials usually have a relatively large band gap that only responds to the ultraviolet light, which largely …

Pt Nanoparticles Decorated Heterostructured G-C3n4/Bi2moo6 Microplates With Highly Enhanced Photocatalytic Activities Under Visible Light, Z. Jia, F. Lyu, Laichang Zhang, S. Zeng, Shunxing Liang, Y. Y. Li, J. Lu

Research outputs 2014 to 2021

Exploring an efficient and photostable heterostructured photocatalyst is a pivotal scientific topic for worldwide energy and environmental concerns. Herein, we reported that Pt decorated g-C3N4/Bi2MoO6 heterostructured composites with enhanced photocatalytic performance under visible light were simply synthesized by one-step hydrothermal method for methylene blue (MB) dye degradation. Results revealed that the synthetic Pt decorated g-C3N4/Bi2MoO6 composites with Bi2MoO6 contents of 20 wt.% (Pt@CN/20%BMO) presented the highest photocatalytic activity, exhibiting 7 and 18 times higher reactivity than the pure g-C3N4 and …

Pesticides have revolutionized the modern day of agriculture and substantially reduced crop losses. Synthetic pesticides pose a potential risk to the ecosystem and to the non-target organisms due to their persistency and bioaccumulation in the environment. In recent years, a light-mediated advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) has been adopted to resolve pesticide residue issues in the field. Among the current available semiconductors, titanium dioxide (TiO2) is one of the most promising photocatalysts. In this study, we investigated the photocatalytic degradation of profenofos and triazophos residues in Chinese cabbage, Brassica chinensis, using a Cerium-doped nano semiconductor TiO2 (TiO …

Editorial: Environmental Catalysis And The Corresponding Catalytic Mechanism, Zhimin Ao, Hongqi Sun, Andres Fullana

Research outputs 2014 to 2021

The ever growing environmental pollution has stimulated the rapid development of environmental catalysis in recent years. Environmental catalysis is a multidisciplinary research field for which more and more chemists, materials scientists, as well as environmentalists have devoted their efforts working in this field because of the bright potentials in improving human health and life quality...

Metallic Systems At The Nano And Micro Scale: Bimetallic Nanoparticles As Catalysts And Mcraly Bond Coats In Thermal Barrier Coatings, Kenneth Kane Jan 2019

Metallic Systems At The Nano And Micro Scale: Bimetallic Nanoparticles As Catalysts And Mcraly Bond Coats In Thermal Barrier Coatings, Kenneth Kane

Theses and Dissertations

The dissertation is split into two parts. The first part will be focused on changes in material properties found at the nanoscale, as miscibility and electronic structure can change significantly with size. The formation of classically-immiscible bimetallic nanoparticles (BNPs) becomes favorable at the nanoscale and novel catalytic properties can emerge from the bimetallic alloying. The formation of alloyed and non-alloyed BNPs is achieved through pulse laser ablation (PLA) and a significant increase in catalytic activity is observed for both. Recently discovered, the increased activity in the non-alloyed BNPs, deemed multicomponent photocatalysis, is examined and the proposed mechanism discussed. The second …
