Internet-Of-Things Privacy In Wifi Networks: Side-Channel Leakage And Mitigations, Mnassar Alyami Jan 2024

Internet-Of-Things Privacy In Wifi Networks: Side-Channel Leakage And Mitigations, Mnassar Alyami

Graduate Thesis and Dissertation 2023-2024

WiFi networks are susceptible to statistical traffic analysis attacks. Despite encryption, the metadata of encrypted traffic, such as packet inter-arrival time and size, remains visible. This visibility allows potential eavesdroppers to infer private information in the Internet of Things (IoT) environment. For example, it allows for the identification of sleep monitors and the inference of whether a user is awake or asleep.

WiFi eavesdropping theoretically enables the identification of IoT devices without the need to join the victim's network. This attack scenario is more realistic and much harder to defend against, thus posing a real threat to user privacy. However, …

Addressing Challenges In Utilizing Gpus For Accelerating Privacy-Preserving Computation, Ardhi Wiratama Baskara Yudha

Graduate Thesis and Dissertation 2023-2024

Cloud computing increasingly handles confidential data, like private inference and query databases. Two strategies are used for secure computation: (1) employing CPU Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) like AMD SEV, Intel SGX, or ARM TrustZone, and (2) utilizing emerging cryptographic methods like Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) with libraries such as HElib, Microsoft SEAL, and PALISADE. To enhance computation, GPUs are often employed. However, using GPUs to accelerate secure computation introduces challenges addressed in three works.

In the first work, we tackle GPU acceleration for secure computation with CPU TEEs. While TEEs perform computations on confidential data, extending their capabilities to GPUs …

Models Of Information Diffusion And The Role Of Influence, Chathura Jj Don Dimungu Arachchige

Graduate Thesis and Dissertation 2023-2024

Information diffusion is significant in fields such as propagation prediction and influence maximization, with applications in viral marketing and rumor control. Despite conceptual differences, existing diffusion models may not represent identical underlying generative structures. A classification of diffusion of information models is developed based on infection requirements and stochasticity. The study involves analyzing seven existing DOI models on directed scale-free networks. The distinctive properties of each model are identified through simulations and analysis of experimental results. Our analysis reveals that similarity in conceptual design does not imply similarity in behavior concerning speed, the final state of nodes and edges, and …

Fundamental Chemical Kinetic Experiments Of Combustion Products Inside A Shock Tube, Alex-Abraham Pothen

Graduate Thesis and Dissertation 2023-2024

The use of lateral divert thrusters on hypersonic vehicles would allow for fine-tuned attitude control at high Mach numbers. However, the jet interaction effects of lateral thrusters on the hypersonic flow field have not been investigated thoroughly. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) can provide preliminary modeling of the jet interaction, but several variables such as vehicle geometry, velocity, and altitude, result in computationally expensive modeling or loss in accuracy of the results. Therefore, the goal of chemical kinetics testing and chemical model verification is to enhance the fidelity of the jet interaction effects, specifically the plume reaction with air and the …

A High-Pressure Shock Tube Study Of Hydrogen And Ammonia Addition To Natural Gas For Reduced Carbon Emissions In Power Generation Gas Turbines, Michael Pierro

Electronic Theses and Dissertations, 2020-

Ignition delay times from undiluted mixtures of natural gas (NG)/H2/Air and NG/NH3/Air were measured using a high-pressure shock tube at the University of Central Florida. The combustion temperatures were experimentally tested between 1000-1500 K near a constant pressure of 25 bar. Mixtures were kept undiluted to replicate the same chemistry pathways seen in gas turbine combustion chambers. Recorded combustion pressures exceeded 200 bar due to the large energy release, hence why these were performed at the high-pressure shock tube facility. The data is compared to the predictions of the NUIGMech 1.1 mechanism for chemical kinetic model validation and refinement. An …

Investigation Of Ground Deformations And Vibrations Due To Impact Pile Driving: Measurements And Prediction Model, Berk Turkel

Electronic Theses and Dissertations, 2020-

Pile driving, a commonly used method for installing deep foundations, has gained prominence as a foundation solution to transfer structural loads to deep competent strata. However, this method of installation can generate noise, ground vibrations, and deformations. These effects pose risks to adjacent structures and buried utilities, jeopardizing the safety and serviceability of urban infrastructure. Researchers and public and private agencies have proposed many vibration limit criteria to avoid damage to infrastructure. However, these criteria for construction vibrations are not linked to the ground densification associated with repetitive and cumulative loadings in sandy soils. This dissertation focuses on developing a …
