Mars Prototype Rover Environmental Measurement System, James A. Renick
Mars Prototype Rover Environmental Measurement System, James A. Renick
Computer Engineering
In my senior project, the problem I am trying to solve is how to efficiently design, create, and install an original library onto a Mars prototype rover operating system and to further use that library to integrate a new weather measurement sensor device into the rover system with the necessary software and hardware implementations. This is an important and highly valued problem as many aerospace and other engineering companies utilize rovers and other autonomous systems for important research, explorations, and reconnaissance missions and goals. In solving this problem, I utilized many resources that were available to me such as advisors, …
Automated Blind Control, Daniel Nahra, Matthew Lacek, Timothy Kurczewski, William Daulton Baksa
Automated Blind Control, Daniel Nahra, Matthew Lacek, Timothy Kurczewski, William Daulton Baksa
Williams Honors College, Honors Research Projects
The objective of this project would be to design and prototype an automated, light and temperature sensing window blinds system. The device would detect temperature, both inside and outside, and incoming sunlight to determine proper window blind position for maximum energy savings. The user would also have the ability to change the settings of the blind from a remote device to a setting that they desire at any given time
Accumulator Volume Sensor Final Project Report, Chris Naughton, Kinwei Yu, Michael George
Accumulator Volume Sensor Final Project Report, Chris Naughton, Kinwei Yu, Michael George
Mechanical Engineering
Accumulator Volume Sensing Team has developed two sensor designs aimed at detecting the position of the piston within a 4024 accumulator. The two designs include the use of a Renishaw LMA10 magnetic encoder and a SpectraSymbol HotPot linear potentiometer. The magnetic encoder solution drastically increases the accuracy of sensing the piston position compared to the current solutions of both a string-pot and linear variable differential transformer while costing slightly less. The linear potentiometer seeks to provide a solution that drastically decreases the cost compared to the present sensing methods. Both designs call for a modification to one half of the …
Humidity Sensor Circuit Using Real Time Operating System (Freertos) Kernel, Bojie Chen
Humidity Sensor Circuit Using Real Time Operating System (Freertos) Kernel, Bojie Chen
Theses and Dissertations--Electrical and Computer Engineering
A humidity sensor can be used to measure the moisture content of the environment. The physical change of the sensor expresses as the change of electrical property like capacitance, resistance, voltage, current, frequency, etc. In order to process these analog signals digitally, microprocessor is involved in the measurement. This thesis presents design of a circuit to measure low moisture levels. The 16-bit RISC mixed signal microcontroller MSP430F249 from Texas Instruments will be used. The circuit has good performance at extremely low humidity levels.
Meanwhile, a small real time operating system kernel FreeRTOS, a market leading RTOS from Real Time Engineer …
Iphone Breathalyzer: Point Oh Wait!, Gurpal Bhoot
Iphone Breathalyzer: Point Oh Wait!, Gurpal Bhoot
Electrical Engineering
This final year project combines hardware and software components to create an alcohol breathalyzer that is compatible with the iPhone. The final design of the circuit and the iPhone application is original and combines multiple components to create the final product. Most of those components are seen in a simplified version of a breathalyzer, while the added components take care of the interface to the iPhone.
Design And Implementation Of A Signal Conditioning Operational Amplifier For A Reflective Object Sensor, Ankit Master
Design And Implementation Of A Signal Conditioning Operational Amplifier For A Reflective Object Sensor, Ankit Master
Masters Theses
Industrial systems often require the acquisition of real-world analog signals for several applications. Various physical phenomena such as displacement, pressure, temperature, light intensity, etc. are measured by sensors, which is a type of transducer, and then converted into a corresponding electrical signal. The electrical signal obtained from the sensor, usually a few tens mV in magnitude, is subsequently conditioned by means of amplification, filtering, range matching, isolation etc., so that the signal can be rendered for further processing and data extraction.
This thesis presents the design and implementation of a general purpose op amp used to condition a reflective object …
