We consider the ideal structure of Steinberg algebras over a commutative ring with identity. We focus on Hausdorff groupoids that are strongly effective in the sense that their reductions to closed subspaces of their unit spaces are all effective. For such a groupoid, we completely describe the ideal lattice of the associated Steinberg algebra over any commutative ring with identity. Our results are new even for the special case of Leavitt path algebras; so we describe explicitly what they say in this context, and give two concrete examples.

Ballasted tracks at transition locations such as approaches to bridges and road crossings experience increasing degradation and deformation due to dynamic and high impact forces, a key factor that decreases the stability and longevity of railroads. One solution to minimise ballast degradation at the transition zones is using rubber energy absorbing drainage sheets (READS) manufactured from recycled tyres. When placed beneath the ballast layer, READS distributes the load over wider area and attenuate of the load over a longer duration thus decreasing maximum stress, apart from reducing the energy transferred to the ballast and other substructure components. The objective of this work was to study the differences in terms of early biological effects that might exist between different X-rays energies by using a mechanistic approach. To this end, radiobiological experiments exposing cell monolayers to three X-ray energies were performed in order to assess the yields of early DNA damage, in particular of double-strand breaks (DSBs). A cold-drawn and annealed 56Ni-44Ti wt% alloy was subjected to in-situ uniaxial monotonic tension in a synchrotron. Spatially resolved diffraction data was acquired along the gauge length by pausing the loading at five select macroscopic strains within the stress plateau region. This enables tracking localised transformation phenomena by sub-dividing the gauge length into transformation band, untransformed and apparently transformed regions. Within the macroscopic stress plateau region: (i) the highly strained B2 phase within the propagating transformation band and apparently transformed regions produces a relaxation of the B2 phase within the untransformed region. Railway tracks are conventionally built on compacted ballast and structural fill layers placed above the natural (subgrade) foundation. However, during train operations, track deteriorations occur progressively due to ballast degradation. The associated track deformation is usually accompanied by a reduction in both load bearing capacity and drainage, apart from imposing frequent track maintenance. Functional liquid metal nanoparticles (NPs), produced from eutectic alloys of gallium, promise new horizons in the fields of sensors, microfluidics, flexible electronics, catalysis, and biomedicine. Here, the development of a vapor cavity generating ultrasonic platform for nebulizing liquid metal within aqueous media for the one-step production of stable and functional liquid metal NPs is shown. In this paper, we present an alternative form of the correlated Stein-Stein option pricing model, which preserves the analytic tractability of the original form and also demonstrates certain advantage for model implementation in practice. We shall show, through an empirical study, that this alternative form generally outperforms the original Stein-Stein form for the selected set of data, demonstrating that it can serve as a good competitor to the original Stein-Stein form in real markets.

In conventional metamorphic testing, metamorphic relations (MRs) are identified as necessary properties of a computer program's intended functionality, whereby violations of MRs reveal faults in the program - under the assumption that the source and follow-up inputs (test cases used in metamorphic testing) are valid. Synchrotron microbeam radiation therapy is a novel pre-clinical therapy method that uses high brilliance, spatially fractionated, low energy x-rays to deliver a very high dose rate. A conventional spatial fractionation for these beams is 50 μm microbeam width at 400 μm peak-to-peak separation. To perform dosimetry on these beams, a dosimeter with a high spatial resolution is required. We present a plastic scintillator fibre optic dosimeter that has been demonstrated to be able to resolve the microbeam structure. This study aimed to evaluate the absorbed doses received by the organs at risk (OARs) following Iridium-192 (192Ir) high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy of the left breast. The MIRD5 adult female anthropomorphic phantom, readily available in the Geant4 Monte Carlo package was used. However, the left breast was modified from 195 to 145 cm3, to represent a breast following lumpectomy. Left breast was chosen due to its higher cancer occurrence than the right breast. This paper presents an experimental investigation into the behavior of Glass Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) bar reinforced high strength concrete and ultra-high strength concrete beams. In total, twelve GFRP bar reinforced concrete beams (GFRP-RC beams) were constructed and tested. Six GFRP-RC beams were tested under static loading. Higher strength concrete was found to influence the overall behavior of GFRP-RC beams under static loading in terms of load carrying capacity, deflection, and post-cracking bending stiffness. Introduction: In prostate cancer patients, imaging of bone metastases is enhanced through the use of sodium fluoride positron emission tomography (18F-NaF PET/CT). This imaging technique shows areas of enhanced osteoblastic activity and blood flow. In this work, 18F-NaF PET/CT was investigated for response assessment to single fraction stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR) to bone metastases in prostate cancer patients. Methods: Patients with bone metastases in a prospective trial treated with single fraction SABR received a 18F-NaF PET/CT scan prior to and 6 months post-SABR. The VU-algorithm is a superlinearly convergent method for minimizing nonsmooth, convex functions. At each iteration, the algorithm works with a certain V-space and its orthogonal u-space, such that the nonsmoothness of the objective function is concentrated on its projection onto the V-space, and on the U-space the projection is smooth. We calculate the heat transfer from electronic devices based on three-dimensional Dirac materials without and with thermionic cooling. Without thermionic cooling, the internal temperature of the devices is at best equal to and usually higher than the temperature of the surrounding environment. However, when thermionic cooling is employed to transport heat, the internal temperature can be considerably lower than the environmental temperature. In the proposed thermionic cooling process, the energy efficiency can be as high as 75% of the Carnot efficiency.

In this paper, we consider the pricing of European options under a regime-switching Heston-Cox-Ingersoll-Ross (CIR) hybrid model, where the mean-reversion levels of both the stochastic volatility and interest rate are assumed to change among different states. Albeit difficult, we have still managed to derive an semianalytical pricing formula for European options after the generalized moment generating function of this particular model is worked out. Numerical experiments are also carried out to demonstrate the accuracy of the newly derived formula as well as the influence of the introduction of the regime-switching mechanics on option prices.
