Resilient Design And Crisis Management, Rich Ham

Operations Management Presentations

Explores the techniques to design resilience into systems, business functions, compliance, quality assurance and response to uncertainty. Includes an overview of Federal Emergency Management Agency principles in resilient design and crisis management, including implementation of National Incident Management System processes and industry standards to frame resilient design, procedures and planning documents. Learn to focus on the use of testing, exercises, and implementation of Plan, Do, Check, Act model to continually improve government, business and personal continuity through periods of cascading uncertainty.

Supply Chain Risk, Ed Pohl Mar 2019

Supply Chain Risk, Ed Pohl

Operations Management Presentations

Supply chains are becoming more and more extended, leaner, and complicated. Not only has the global economy contributed to the complication and risk of our supply chains, we also face significant potential challenges with technology, economic, environmental changes, and social issues. Practitioners have never experienced so many challenges at one time in their career and these challenges are coming in ways we never anticipated. In this presentation, we will address the nature of supply chain risk in today’s world, how to identify the greatest risks in your supply chain, and strategies for mitigating the risks. Examples of specific risk factors …

Stop “Droning” On About Unmanned Aircraft Systems And Do Something About It, Richard Ham Oct 2018

Stop “Droning” On About Unmanned Aircraft Systems And Do Something About It, Richard Ham

Operations Management Presentations

The use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) is quickly becoming an expectation for inventory management, supply chain, engineering/construction and architectural inspections, agriculture assessment and surveillance. This webinar will provide an overview of compliance requirements, startup costs, and new use cases changing the way operations managers function and improve efficiency. Supply chain management and delivery, construction management, quality management inspections and homeland security requirements are already heavily invested in UAS integration. Learn how to use your knowledge as an operations manager to stay ahead of your competitors and discover creative ways to drive up productivity and reduce costs by adding UAS …

Large-Scale Solution Approaches For Healthcare And Supply Chain Scheduling, Ridvan Gedik Aug 2014

Large-Scale Solution Approaches For Healthcare And Supply Chain Scheduling, Ridvan Gedik

Graduate Theses and Dissertations

This research proposes novel solution techniques for two real world problems. We first consider a patient scheduling problem in a proton therapy facility with deterministic patient arrivals. In order to assess the impacts of several operational constraints, we propose single and multi-criteria linear programming models. In addition, we ensure that the strategic patient mix restrictions predetermined by the decision makers are also enforced within the planning horizon. We study the mathematical structures of the single criteria model with strict patient mix restrictions and derive analytical equations for the optimal solutions under several operational restrictions. These efforts lead to a set …

Time-Driven Activity-Based Costing For Healthcare Provider Supply Chain Processes, Martha Isaura Gonzalez May 2014

Time-Driven Activity-Based Costing For Healthcare Provider Supply Chain Processes, Martha Isaura Gonzalez

Graduate Theses and Dissertations

In a time when healthcare costs continue to rise, nearly a third of hospital operating expenses are related to supplies, and the healthcare supply chain is complex, it is pertinent for healthcare providers to have a clear understanding of their healthcare supply chain process costs. Having a clear picture into how these costs are driven and where opportunities for cost reductions exist can support supply chain efficiencies. In this research, we develop a Time-Driven Activity-Based Costing (TDABC) supply chain cost management tool for healthcare providers. A TDABC management system can provide healthcare providers with valuable product and process supply chain …
